mxtech1 Added a reply to SX Testing vs Practicing
11/10/2011 7:00am If they are testing parts, they will ride the exact same lines each lap to try and notice the differences the part makes. They can't tell what's going on if they are switching lines up every corner and not getting a consistant feel for what the bike is doing.
Like jndmx said, aside from testing, the rest of their time...

mxtech1 Added a reply to 2T-4T parts list
11/10/2011 6:47am Women seem to find it attractive when they come over and see an engine completely torn down and layed out and to be able to explain to them all the parts and how they work lol.
You're right through, the average american man in current time has very little mechnical inclination. And i'm not even talking rebuilding an engine. I'm...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Castle Nut holding Rear Wheel Bearings
11/9/2011 11:40am Yea you need a special tool to remove that. Don't try to knock it loose with a punch and hammer it won't work.
You can get one at pit posse. http://pitposse.com/47crsereto.html
mxtech1 Added a reply to Showa SFF AIR?
11/9/2011 8:46am It's no different technology than any current models that run a nitrogen filled shock.
A nitrogen tank setup does not cost very much money. You can build a 1 gallon setup for about $100, which holds enough volume for about 30-40 shock charges. The nitrogen costs about $25 per tank fill.
So basically, for almost the cost of a new...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Interesting MXA interview Re: JS7 and DM
11/9/2011 8:05am Very interesting to see the direction Showa is taking with their fork development. They have made two large improvements in just the last year with the SFF and now the "air fork."
I was most impressed with the idea that the heavier fork goes on the side away from the caliper to neutralize the weight. I can see where that...
mxtech1 Added a reply to CRF250R help
11/4/2011 11:14am It probably wouldn't start right if the valves were too tight. Did the mechanic cut new valve seats on the valves that were replaced? The issues are kind of baffling me because they are conflicting. If the bike ran poorly from the time you started it, I would say it's carb issues. But when it runs good at first and...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Irvine, CA and surrounding area info?
11/3/2011 1:29pm That's a small culture shock for me. My mortgage payment for my 1200 sq. ft. 2 bedroom home is $307 per month on a $60,000 loan. And I would say that is about average for the area i live in. I don't understand how people can afford $1500 dollars a month for a house payment and I even have good...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Irvine, CA and surrounding area info?
11/3/2011 1:26pm I was in CA for about a month when I did a mechanic job for a privateer. We stayed in a RV park right down the road from the Star West track. I did not care too much for that area, so I was mostly wondering if all the other SoCal areas are like that?
We did make it to...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Helmet Question.
11/3/2011 1:01pm You're actually fairly wrong. For my senior research paper during my engineering studies, I chose to research testing procedures for advanced composites and polymers, which included a section about the testing methods of helmet safety ratings (always had to figure out some way to involve motorcycles with my college classes!)
You see, it turns out every test HAS to be...

11/3/2011 11:30am What's your average commute time to work?
I've lived in smaller town most of my life so i'm thinking that may be the way to go. Large city life has always seemed overwhelming to me and not an ideal place to live.
I will check on the info you gave me and other surrounding areas. Thanks!
mxtech1 Added a reply to 93+ octane fuel in SoCal?
11/2/2011 6:40am Most stations have stopped selling 93 octane because of the blend with ethanol. your easiest bet is going to be 91 octane and then use a quality octane booster.
Although you shouldn't need 93 or octane booster. Most bikes will run fine on fresh 91 octance pump gas. You shouldn't need anything higher unless you've got a mod engine with...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Trade-in advice
11/1/2011 6:23am There's a alot bigger difference between a few hundred dollars between the trade-in value and private sell value. If the dealership buys your bike, they are probably going to price it on their used showfloor over the high price given by KBB or NADA. This gives them the wiggle room to "knock $500 off" or "throw in that helmet" with...
mxtech1 Added a reply to JS7 testing in a nascar
11/1/2011 5:37am x2. I bet there's alot of Pro series riders out there taking a couple weeks off for vacation and rest right now, maybe doing a little bit of testing or maybe doing a special race here and there. But stewart isn't fitting the "perfect model" right now and wow...
Everyone bitched because Stewart wouldn't pick a ride or a team...
mxtech1 Added a reply to JS7 testing in a nascar
11/1/2011 5:27am I don't know about you guys but why they hell wouldn't he want to drive/race late models when he can fit them in? I know I would...and if i had the finances I would go race late models anytime but that sport is just so dam expensive. I think late model racing would be about the most fun you could...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Carb question
10/31/2011 12:10pm You need to drop your leak jet way down and try adjusting your acc. pump timing or wire it closed (this is what alot of the Yamaha guys do with their carbs) so it is no freeplay or delay in the fuel injection.
Most of the issue is the leak jet though. Get that down to the right size and...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Cleaning Your Bike
10/28/2011 7:37am Simple green is the best way to go. Buy the concentrate and mix it 50/50 with water to make it stronger than the premixed bottles you buy. spray off all the mud first before you apply the cleaner and then let it "soak" for 2-3 minutes so it can penetrate before you do a final rinse. There are some other...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Is this right...?
10/25/2011 5:54am Well last friday I told him I would not meet him and would not be returning his money. He didn't say much.
I spoke to an attorney that is a member of my local motorcycle club to seek some friendly advice. The first point he made was that the bike is closed-course competition only and does not need registration in...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Rear Axle Stuck (Salt Water)
10/21/2011 9:15am I had a axle stuck so bad one time that I had to take the whole swingarm off the bike with the wheel attached and I had to use a press to push the axle through. If it's stuck that bad, I don't think you're going to get it by trying to hit it, plus you are probably going to...

10/20/2011 11:29am He picked the bike up in a late model Tacoma. When he returned for a bill of sale he was driving a late model Jeep wrangler
