mxtech1 Added a reply to How much have you spent on MX over the years?
10/10/2011 7:33am I don't even want to know! I've always enjoyed it and i've always tried to put myself on the best equipment that I can afford. As long as I can afford it, I will continue to ride and continue to update my equipment. I've tamed it back in the last 2 years by riding the same bike and not buying...

10/10/2011 6:50am Sounds like you may have a bad regulator/rectifier causing an inconsistent delivery in the electrici pulse coming from the stator which may be why wires are going bad.
mxtech1 Added a reply to CR125R Big Bore
10/7/2011 5:10am You shouldn't need anything special done to the cases for only a 134cc. The cases should not need bored out. The cylinder will need bored and coated in nikasil and the powervalves will need to be cut to match the bore. You don't need to sleeve it. the head will need to have the squish band altered to maximize your...
mxtech1 Added a reply to 2010 YZ 450 crank rebuild
10/6/2011 12:21pm Any decent local shop should be able to swap rods and true the crank. My shop charges $25-50, depending on the make.

10/5/2011 8:48am You might try several different height with the pedal. go up and down and see what works. Are you running a tall seat?
Do you have the same problem with the shifter? if not, try to put the pedal at the same height as the shifter. It's really hard to give advice when you aren't physically riding in front of...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Putting 250T engines into aluminum frame
10/5/2011 6:19am From my aspect it's not so much about steel vs. AF. I would love to go out and buy a 2012 ktm250sx, but I can't afford that right now. I love my 2005 RM250, but it's just getting tired. I've rebuilt the thing from the frame up twice in the last 4 years, with engine rebuilds all 4 years. I...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Long legs & brake taps
10/5/2011 6:05am I guess i'm not sure what you're getting at..... The length of your legs has less to do with it. It's all about the position you hold with your feet on the pegs in relation to pedal. If you are "stomping" with your leg i could see a problem, but the peg should be at the arch of your foot...

10/4/2011 1:27pm If you're using proper technique and gripping the bike with your legs the brake lever should always be an ankle pivot away from touching.
mxtech1 Added a reply to Hot start plunger question...
10/3/2011 11:53am yes, the plunger and fitting should be universal. But the cable angle may be different at the elbow where it enters the carb.

10/3/2011 10:54am A local builder in Illinois had the same scenario. He built some really good bikes out of his garage and was selling every bike he made + a waiting list. He moved to a small shop and hired about 5 employees where the sucess continued. After about 2 years he just started spending everything he was making, racking up loans...

10/3/2011 10:44am I'll probably end up using T-6 6061. Your points are valid about the heat treatment, but I have yet to think that far ahead. I have plans to get with our inhouse weld engineer and bounce some ideas off him to see what steps need to be taken. I'm hopeful he will be able to show some information that would...

10/3/2011 9:46am What was the KTM recall for the engine?
mxtech1 Added a reply to Any 350sx-f owners
10/3/2011 6:44am My friend has one. At the 11 hour mark the valves were too tight and needing adjusting. At the 21 hours mark the valves were too tight again and needed adjusting. At the 26 hour mark, the bike began to burn oil because the piston and rings were worn. We raplaced the piston, rings, wrist pin and bearing, and adjusted...
mxtech1 Added a reply to crf250... before it kills me
10/3/2011 6:38am sir stevesxm, i still stand by my original post. make a gearing change and see how that works. A heavier flywheel weight would also be a good recomendation as someone else pointed out as it will slow down the engine RPM and make it more manegable.

10/3/2011 6:36am If you had any idea what you were talking about maybe your post would have been more helpful, but instead you chimed in with a negative remark, taking only one small phrase of what i said in an otherwise helpful reply regarding a gearing change. FYI, a high compression piston is the equivalent to adding a pipe and silencer. Raising...
mxtech1 Added a reply to exhaust system for ktm 150
10/3/2011 6:25am +2 on the PC silencer. They seemed to say the factory pipe is really good, but the silencer was pretty restrictive. you might have good results by using a PC R304 silencer. Replace the pipe later if you still need more.

10/3/2011 6:16am I will work on getting a screenshot image, tried to make one but I was having difficulties interfacing the 3d drawing into a jpeg. I found a software on the internet that may work so i need to download that and try it. The frame is still rough in the drawing, I need to go back again with the coordinate...
