mxtech1 Added a reply to Putting 250T engines into aluminum frame

Thanks for the info guys! good links with lots of information. I took my buddies 2009 rmz250 frame into work with me this weekend and layed it out using a coordinate measuring machine. I did some measuring on the engine and combined the information in Autocad Inventor to make a 3d drawing. I'm going to use the same material stock...

In the linked page on picture 4 of 17 2 things ive never seen before... 1) what's the gray spacer between the carb bowl and the engine cases? 2) what is the white colored stuff on the primary shaft by the front sprocket?

Impregnated sheets of CF are layed over a mold. The part is put in a vacuum bag and the air is drawn out. The vacuum pushes the CF down into every nook and cranny of the part. The process is continued until a desired thickness is reached. That shock is not CF though. You can tell by were the threads...

haha. At first i thought you were going to say a bike pump to air up tubes. I'd like to see you get 140 pounds of pressure into a 3 inch shock bladder using a bike pump. And i'm not going to comment on using air instead of nitrogen.

You can make your own nitrogen setup using a 1 gallon tank, a regulator, pressure gauge, and hose. All this can be had on Ebay for around $100. A nitrogen fill from the local gas company usually costs about $25. Off that setup, I can do about 20-30 shocks at $10 a fill. It's an easy way for you to...

In all honesty, you need to just ride it and get used to the powerband. Leave the internals of the engine alone. You're best bet would be to run a smaller rear sprocket to take some of the punch and extreme acceleration out of the engine. Once you get used to it, you're probably going to be asking for more...

I run VP u4.4 and it's $72 for a 5 gallon pail. I know im going against the grain here, but I would highy disagree with running any type of fuel stabilizer in your fuels. These are racing engines and needed to be treated like one. Stabil's main goal is to keep fuel from varnishing. Varnished fuel clogs everything up...

The brakes on these bikes weren't very good. Even with the lines bleed perfectly, they are soft. You have to go aftermarket to get the feeling you want. You don't have to buy an oversize rotor/wave rotors. The best solution I have found is to use steel lines and a very aggressive mx/sx compound pad. Spend a little extra $...

I think Sunset Ridge in Illinois is becoming more deserving of a national. The track and facilities get better each year and they are already proven succesfull with an ATV national and large turnouts for Pro-ams and LL qualies. Red Bud and Millville pretty much have the midwest wrapped in a srong-hold though so i don't think it happens. Freestone...

I'm not trying to be a shithead.....but how do you have $250 in materials over such a small surface? Is it all in paint? Do you buy pints of automotive grade paints or what do you use?

Shock rebuilds are so easy! Don't let it scare you. If you can put in a set of fork seals, doing a shock is a breeze. It's an easy learn and a good way to save yourself money because all you have to pay for is the fluid and nitrogen charge (probably $20 or less for both.) Paul Thede from...

Well that read sucked... Every question was either answered by having no comment at this time, or turned into an open-ended statement by saying "may or may not" There's enough information floating around this forum that someone probably could have collected it all and put together a better article than that piece.

Tony is a good father who 100% supports his boys or else he wouldn't be with them 24/7. He would go back to a normal job and get his own money. Don't feel bad for mike, he stated in the previous season of the moto that he feels his dad is the best there is at what he does and...

District level racing seemed to lose its appeal to me about 2 years ago. It just got to the point to where it wasn't worth being gone all day long to get 30 minutes of track time at the races. Me and my friends have been hitting more open practices and riding private tracks where we can be gone for...

Then that would be great, but I don't see that happening. They would probably come out finiancially better to pay Metcalfe's contract out early and let him sign elswhere. I would think the cost of doing the series with just one rider, who probably won't be competing for a win every weekend, would be too high. Imo, I would rather...

Yea, I purchased my own home with a nice garage so i'm trying to step up my service support. I've been charging $25 an hour, but maybe we could get something worked out for sponsorhip for your boys if they are planning on racing alot next year. I'm looking to sponsor a handful of riders for next year in way...
