I like the blue and white one the best. Clean sharp lines and well laid out. Not being critical here, as I see you stated this is something you do for fun, but I'm not seeing any shading, highlights or other custom airbrush effects. Do you have any background in painting, automotive by chance? Have you had the opportunity to take any custom painting classes? While I've been in automotive collision repair for a long time, I am completely brain dead when it comes to trying to do any sort of custom paint scheme. I have had some really talented artists, stripers and airbrush guys work with me in the past for some customers vehicles and have had the opportunity to see some of their tricks. Amazing how simple it is to get some pretty dramatic effects. There is a local painter who offers airbrush/custom paint classes through one of the local paint suppliers. About once a year he'll get together a class and teach a lot of material in the course of a weekend. Some of the sample panels beginners walk out of there with as a first time effort are pretty amazing. He also claims he can teach anyone to hand paint professional quality pinstripes in two days as well. Been wanting to do that one myself as it is often times a pain to get the striper there when you need him for a single panel stripe job. Any other pics of other work?

those aren't " custom helmets"

those are custom painted helmets...

blue & white classic clean simple lines nice,

clean work that doesn't look too trendy.

I like both of them... I'm an artist myself and have painted one helmet. Your work is VERY clean. Personally I think that you could add a number or something on the side to break up all of that white, or like someone said, some shading would work wonders.. but even without those things I still think that both jobs are VERy clean.

You old fellas are really missing the point!

The photo really doesn´t do the paint-job any favors.

Some (all?) of the white has the number 913 hidden on it, all over it..
You can see it in the sunlight next to one of the vents.

Really really nice looking paintjob!

I´ll start thinking of a design to order from you!

I'm not trying to be a shithead.....but how do you have $250 in materials over such a small surface? Is it all in paint? Do you buy pints of automotive grade paints or what do you use?

You haven't bought auto paint lately. It's pretty crazy on pricing. Our mixing bases cost in excess of $200.00 per quart for urethane basecoats. Clear urethane between $300.00-$400.00 per gallon. Activators for the clear upwards of $150.00 per quart. That's for Glasurit , top line stuff. Fortunately we have the ability to mix as little as an ounce of sprayable color since we have a full mixing system. An individual probably doesn't have that luxury and items such as activators will go bad fairly quick once opened.

As for the numbers in the white helmet, yep I missed that. Getting old and going blind. Layered in tri coat pearl I guess? That's even more expensive.

Thanks for the kind words. Good eye on seeing the 913. I put my number in pearl all over the helmet. It just has to be in the right light to show up.

The paint is ppg car paint base clear. Which can get pretty expensive. I usually buy half a pint at a time. I have worked in the car racing and hot rod industry for around 10 years. I really need to learn how to airbrush. I think it would add alot of depth to the blue and white one. Im not a troy lee or tagger by any means, but i think i do ok. Its not as hard as people think. all it takes is a little patience. Im sure 90% of the people on this forum could paint their own if they tried

They look great, man. You picked the right canvas to paint them on too. The VFX-W is an awesome helmet!

Funny that you should mention ol Danny. Our last election, I was driving thru a small town that had Danny Dolan for Sherriff signs. Made me snicker but no one else would have gotten the joke.
