Considering a relocation for work. What's it like in Irvine and the surrounding area as far as housing, shopping, night life etc.?
What are 2 bedroom homes going for? And the neighborhoods those houses are in. Any areas to avoid? Are there any cites or suburbs of Irvine within a 15 minute drive that may offer better living?
I've tried doing research online but figured I would post here since alot of members probably are knowledgable about that area.
Which MX tracks are closest to the Irvine area?

Kawi USA is near Irvince, Lake Forest? fyi.
Shopping will not be an issue - South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island are huge retail areas.
Be aware you are in SoCal so housing will be very pricey...and the 405 and 5 are heavily trafficed.

email me if you want more info, I live in Mission Viejo just south of Irvine. sondy132001@yahoo.com
I've lived in smaller town most of my life so i'm thinking that may be the way to go. Large city life has always seemed overwhelming to me and not an ideal place to live.
I will check on the info you gave me and other surrounding areas. Thanks!

I live in OC and work in the Irvine area. Working in Irvine is great! Plenty of restaurants, malls, shopping, night life. Your commute time would depend on where you live in relation to where you work. Sondy had some good info in her post. Housing and rentals are PRICEY. Gas/fuel PRICEY. Hopefully your potential new employer will be paying you accorgingly to afford your living and lifestyle. So many things here to do! But lots of driving to do all the fun things. All add up to $$. But OC is a great place, very scenic, beaches are nice. Plenty of recreation all over OC and inland. Plenty of mx tracks to ride, but again if you live in OC you have to drive 1 hour plus to the tracks. Most tracks are worth the drive. CA has a TON to offer, too bad the state Gov't sucks. But we all deal with it because it's such a great place with tons of fun all-around.

Irvine's great, but it's not an inexpensive place to live.
my suggestion...if riding is really your passion...move to lake elsinore, housing is WAY cheaper, you will be closer to tracks, and natural riding terrian...and your commute will be about 40min over ortega highway.....add a streetbike to your garage and that commute can turn into a little bit of fun....
There's a lot of industry here, and Orange County invented the action sports industry. So a single person can make a pretty good life for themselves.
But if you have a family- housing, transportation and health insurance are very expensive. $100k a year job doesn't buy a house here for a family.
There are all sorts of Housing options around there.
Get out there and check it out...truly...one of CA's better Metro-Areas.
I'm tellin' PAB that you "Blew-It!"
(Btw, where were you, yesterday, when the rest of us were watchin' Kelly win his 11th at the ASP?)
Hey, we would love to kick it on the beach, but it's Baja1k cruch time! It's all hands on deck!!!

I'll be a Chase/Home-n-Back "Driver" for Heide 'til my shoulder is "released" to go back out there...
We did make it to Huntington Beach and I really liked the atmosphere and areas around there. We also made it to some areas including Corona, Chino, LA, Anaheim, and some norhern CA around Hangtown. and those areas were alright. I felt like Corona was a decent areas.
Kind of hard explain my thoughts and concerns so i will be planning a trip to do some looking around again.
The thing I hated most about SoCal was that everything seemed so brown, dead, and lifeless. Here in Illinois it's green and color for as far as you can see. When left Hangtown and drove down to Texas for Freestone the first thing I did outside the RV was lay in the grass and admire the fields!

You'll pay that much for a 20x20 storage shed out there......

ohhh and back to the OP....if $1500 is a culture shock to you....then you might want to stay outta socal....just sayin....
My advice is to not move here based on what info you have supplied. You spent a month in CA and didn't like that is was brown and dead. It is brown and most of the time and you will miss the changing of the seasons, no rain, no thunder, doesn't get cold and on and on. I am not a native of SoCal so I have a different perspective. Loved it at first(I was in my twenties) but would leave in a heartbeat but my wife is a SoCal native and doesn't know what she is missing. Good luck!!
Post a reply to: Irvine, CA and surrounding area info?
