I don’t think the focus here needs to be on the promoter. What needs to be reevaluated is the whole system. Why the hell are there 73 riders in a mini class at a regional that you are supposed to qualify for? Use the power ranking system as it is intended. There can be alternates, but there should be no more than a full gate signed up in any class period. Limit the amount of area qualifiers or cut back the amount of transfer spots so there isn’t this extreme amount of entries overloading and complicating the regional weekend. Riders...

It’s not just amateur motocross, it’s most youth sports that are screwed up. Travel baseball, basketball, gymnastics.. Parents going all in on their kids sport. The average kid is better off focusing on competing on the local level instead of state/national stage.

I know I’ll get called out for being negative but would really like to see moto media have an honest sit down with DC or Tim Cotter and ask some questions about the state of amateur mx. Are combines and futures planned to replace pro sport for stepping stone to pro, why have qualifiers if anyone can race regionals, why allow people to race/get tickets from multiple regionals? How are tracks vetted for these highly attended qualifying races? I thought they had to have an area qualifier before they could host a regional but assuming that’s not the case if...

Not there but it looks like a disaster. I don't understand what the point of an area qualifier is if anyone can just sign up for the regional. There shouldn't be alternates at the regionals at all. There are plenty of areas to make it to a regional. Let's be real if you didn't make it out of any areas you have zero chance to make LL. Should be a full gate at regionals and that's it.

It's called "growing the sport"! It is not about the experince, or local riders etc.... $$$ all that matters, same as everything else nowadays.

Theres different tiers of vip, the buckley blvd is under “preferred viewing” and its $220.52 (3x general admission) and sold out. Whats honestly the most annoying part is that this is where the camel humps used to be after the switchbacks. They got rid of the camel humps for some reason like 10 years ago and now the switchbacks are gone this year. Add to that the frog pond going away and a looot of the interesting parts of the track are gone now. One year they added rollers there, but they havent come back. Can they not add something...

His racing actions and comments from the racing last couple weekends prove he is not humbled. His antics haven't changed. The Coenens were both only 1 race deep and were way more impressive than Deegan. If there's anyone for Jett to worry about it's those twins when they come over here to race full time.

Chad Reed gets a lot of hate, but Two Two was legit. Biggest names in the sport were on the team and they were beating the factory guys on a privateer bike, 2012 he was arguably the fastest guy indoors and out until Chadapault & Houston (was it Houston where he crashed battling villlo?) Honda took notice and started giving factory parts, but it’s a cool story. Steve did a great article on Racer X about the team, awesome read.

There are other factors why someone like Garrett stays 250 for so long. Number one, a decent salary. Higher number of rides on decent bikes and salaries. Chance of hitting bonuses that will by far outweigh the salary itself (US race bonuses are so much higher than GP). Look what he had to do on a 250 last year to even get considered for a good 450 spot.
