I grew up on peaky non-reed valve 2-strokes of all flavors in early 1970's and we naturally were clutch heave to build RPMS and keep in power band to keep momentum. I never heard of dragging brake and powering out WITHOUT the clutch on a 2 -stroke lol. Always room to learn in this sport.

I went from that Triumph in 1969 to a beater Honda CB160 to my first race on my dad's BSA in 1972 to my first real MX bike a Suzuki TM250 in 1974 to a Suzuki RM250 to a Yamaha YZ250. From 1966 - 1980 was the best time of my life.

I’ve just rewatched moto 2 from Hangtown 2015, it was like Tomac was in fast forward, I’d forgot just how insane he was riding the start of that season. History tells us it wasn’t sustainable but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone before or since get round a track at that speed, just incredible.
