15 hours ago Thank you for the Japanese lesson Sensei. I only got 35 years on and off in Japan so I am a little rusty. How about you? By the way, I was making a funny. A play on words. It wasn't intended to be taken so literally. 冗談だよ

7/10/2026 5:51am Definitely were stuck closed… I was shocked when they started working….I”ll probably pull the top end & have a look at them, throw rings in while I”m there….even thought it was 85 degrees & humid as hell, the jetting from this thread was very good…

7/8/2026 5:22am That would be a challenge! It should have lost it's strength after heating to 250°C, let it cool down first.

7/8/2026 5:19am Well, success! A quick session in the oven as per doctors orders, followed by a two-strap-wrench attack after about 10min of cooling time, did the trick. Almost couldn’t believe it actually let go. That loctite stank. Cheers all. Ps. Pic of the shock assy/piston as removed from the main tube, for reference. Now to finish this swap over and onto the next job… (try to weld up this DRZ sump bolt that someone sent to the moon)

7/7/2026 7:13pm I'm trying to imagine handling a 250C shock body, getting it in the vice, and throwing a few strap wrenches on it. Doesn't sound fun.. LOL

7/7/2026 3:46pm figured it out; the gasket between the carb and the jet tower or whatever its called was torn, flooding gas into the carb body. Replaced gasket, bike runs like a champ.

7/5/2026 9:08pm Thanks mate. All good tips. I'll get another strap wrench today and try it with two. Funny how that didn't even occur to me. 🤪 I actually spoke with the local K-Tech Aust team, who confirmed 'they are a prick to get off'... recommended throwing in the oven at 250'C to for a while to get the loctite to let go. Will report back (one way or another)...

7/5/2026 8:08pm Since the upper body is already damaged, can you clamp on this area in the vice to minimize the twisting when you are cranking on it? Other than that, make sure the reservoir is as clean and oil free as possible. I would use 2 strap wrenches. Get bigger ones. Make sure the rubber inside the straps is as clean...
