That's Shaun Wooten. NorCal local phenom in the 80's and 90's. He's a Dirt Digger and one of the nicest guys around. This guy makes friends with everyone he comes in contact with. Someone did say something to him and he was reacting with this smile. He's no stranger to injuries (he was a pro with many injuries himself) and he definitely knew the severity of the situation.

At Hangtown folks would stake out a claim with an EZ up two days before the race (Day 1 of 3, 3 pro day) and temporarily remove the canopy so the wind wouldn't catch it. The earlier folks are willing to to queue up like that the more popular the event is. They have areas they allow the EZ up, and areas where they don't.

Then sports world is full of meddling parents whose kid is the bestest and failure is everyone else's fault. Credit to the parents who strike the right balance of support.

Why do the details matter beyond what we know already? Almost certainly that person was with Kawi. People expect folks to be serious journalists, but a serious journalist is not going to relay specifics provided to him off the record or on background if those specifics will out the person who shared them. And here we're not talking about the whether the bigger picture happened, but granular details. Juicy stuff we can drool over.

On the latest Racer X podcast JT said a person he respects witnessed the whole thing and told him exactly what happened. JT then proceeded to give no further details...

I'm baffled by the down votes. You are correct. I'll take it a step further, concerning that belief of his. If Haiden hasn't broken through by mid-season, you will see him slip back a few more position for moto finishes.

Having few limits could open up some aftermarket companies making frames and rolling chassis using existing engines. BBR comes to mind when making frames and trick parts.
