Next year, when these bikes will be on the tracks and trails of America, is the 60th Anniversary of the Summer of Love...

Can't wait to see what gear sets Fox, TLD, etc will unleash. (Please, no tie-dye!)

I hear Honda is working on a CR351, while Suzuki is planning an RM396.

Still have my 79 Husqvarna cr390, with a six speed tranny.

Hopefully the 2-stroke kooks that were butthurt about the delays can get over it and be appreciative to have another option. Looks like a cool bike!

Suzuki soldiered on till 2007 for the 125 and 2008 for the 250. I still have mine.

Wait till the bitching about aluminum frame and lack of kick start begins.

Less expensive, AND they pay their parts suppliers (unlike one of the brands mentioned).

Just a hunch, the KX327 will be noticeably heavier than the KTM 300. If I had to take another hunch I bet it rides heavier too.. though Kawasaki said they have trimmed down bodywork so we'll see..

I like it! Not rode a modern 2 stroke in years. Can’t wait to see first ride impressions!

Someone explain to me the reasoning for a 327cc engine?

It limits the classes it will be available to race in MX (amateur).

Those of us in the “25 and over” age classes don’t even know what you guys are talking about. 🤣

Now the guys that claim they would buy it if someone made it…have to show up…..when the new KtM 300Sx came out, lots of older guys, claiming to be 2 stroke riders bought them…..then many realized a 2 stroke requires more effort and better physical conditioning…….hence the for sale at 4hrs…. Going different direction, were plentiful….I look forward to the ride reports👍well done Kawasaki…maybe that GNCC Baylor guy will race one…

My friend, who is mid/late-50s, bought one and hated the chassis/suspension. He sold it pretty quickly. Being that the new KX 2 stroke is likely to have a very similar chassis/suspension feel to Kawi’s 4 stroke, I think we’re going to see a lot more people able to be comfortable immediately on them, especially if the motor is decent.

Technically Kawi was the first to throw in the towel when they dropped the KX125 in 2005. Suzuki and Honda followed. Final years in the US-

KX125 - 2005

KX250 - 2007

RM125 - 2007

RM250 - 2008

CR125 - 2007

CR250 - 2007

Its legal is AMA amateur racing in the 450 class. They changed the rule several years ago. The 250 class is open to 250cc and the 4 stroke to 450cc. 2 Stroke or 4 Stroke.

In DC's GNCC empire, I'm pretty sure in the XC2 250cc class (pros) they allow equivalency. A few times over the years, a 2t rider has won it. Races and the Championship.

I don't know what they allow in the XC1 Pro class - I assume 450 4t is the limit? Something like the 327 Kawi / 350 (Beta) and what may be to come from other manufacturers, would be  absolute weapons in GNCC / Offroad in general!

The 'strange' size?

As I've written before, I'd be surprised if that capacity  of 327cc wasn't made, to have the base engine / cases being suitable for an eventual 250cc 2 stroke.

Just be Happy that Kawasaki have (finally!)  brought out their first completely new 2t , in a couple of decades, I reckon.

GNCC XC1 and amateur Open clases are open displacement.  Strang is riding a 480 Beta in XC1.

Confirmed XC2 is open to 250 2 strokes.

I hope someone hops one up - PC/ FMF pipe, Twisted Dev., ported/ head mods, etc. Of course, with a true 327cc (not big bore 250) 2-stroke, it won’t need porting, or more power necessarily. A flywheel weight will do wonders for it probably.

The 300 is the dominant 2t for off-road. 327 still competes in the same classes. Most kids running in the 250 class are on 250f because they are faster for XC racing. It is also possible the 300 Kawi just wasn't fast or torquey enough to compete with the 300 KTM. 327 gives it a little extra.

I think somewhere in the 100 page thread there was a comment that the bike was pulled back because it wasn't fast enough and (??!!!) they were upping the displacement to 325ccs. Some pretty good prognosticating.....

Kawasaki did built a ninja 636 which wasn't legal for supersport, but they built it just for s&g's.

Is there a specific design reason for 327, or is it just a good number from the old Chevy 327 era?

They are going after the Beta 350 RX.. That is probably why they seem to have rethought their program mid-development when the 350 RX debuted.  I bet they will try to show their 327 makes as much power and torque as the Beta 350 with less rotating mass to vibrate. I like it, but at almost 234 pounds, it is on the pig heavy side for a 2 stroke. The last 2 iterations of the CR250R were about 214-215 pounds. The Beta 350 RX is 220 lbs.

So, a fully modded shootout between this and the RX350 is a must.

Dear Mitch Payton,

Please build a fire breather and strap Kitchens skinny ass to it at Lorettas on the off-week. We need a "demo".

Thanks
