My long time friend Ben that just became a Bata dealer in Maryland and he is still big in the trials bikes. Back when we were kids in the late 70’s or early 80’s he had a neighbor that was part of the army band that had a couple trials bikes and got him into trials.

A couple of things that are important for trials as a relative newbie (6 years) I should have listened to. I did work it all out and reached a reasonable level (Top 3 nationally). But the fun part at the beginning was more of a struggle than enjoyment. Your weight is irrelevant, and so is your height for capacity's sake. Engine Capacity - Smaller is better by a country mile. Most riders go straight for the 250/300. The smart ones get the smaller capacity and learn to ride the bike properly without the added mistakes induced by power and relying...

Don't have a lot of photos of me, a fewer handy not scanned. Like a lot of folks here started on the Stingray, then in order, bought that beat Bultaco in a box around 73 and rebuilt it with a friend in High School metal shop, then to the Maico, then the Ossa, then a Husky 390 (no pics of that).
