He seems to ride a wide bike as well. It never goes over well with the top guys when they feel like you’re just holding them up. I’ve watched Gifting do it at a few rounds. He definitely crosses over and blocks guys sometimes and rides a bit over his head at times. He sure is fast though on a privateer bike. He looks like his riding is on another level this year.

As you’ll know a brake tap or panic rev is enough to change the direction of the bike by a few degrees which is enough in most cases to get you out of trouble. If the bike was hypothetically floating in space the wheel tap would start the whole bike rotating but much slower than the wheels were.

Earlier in the moto he dropped it on the right-side and the left grip/throttle/frt brake lever went into the ground… Did dirt get in the lever-clevis and interfere with the frt brake…or something-else got in the braking system somewhere and caused the front brake to drag a bit…eventually causing “lock-up”? When he jumped: the front was NOT TURNING (not good/causes the bike to have directional instability in the air). When he got up AFTER THAT GNARLY CRASH…the front wheel was locked up…he falls again as the bike spirals on a locked front wheel…and then we saw him pick it up...

He ran the gate over. He had an advantage even though he hesitated after that. A full lap is pretty harsh. If the rule book says that is the penalty it should be applied. The teams can lobby to change the rule.

Some of you have never been behind a gate before and it shows. And apparently also don’t understand how rules work. It’s not a murky conspiracy, I personally think Jett is awesome but he hit the gate and then took it forward. Ya'll keep getting hung up on the "gained an advantage" thing. It has literally less than zero to do with anything other than fouling the gate like it's spelled out in the rule book. When one rider leaves early and does what Jett did, it "fouls the gate" for every other rider around him or her, that's the penalty, not some perceived advantage he may or may not have gained. Like it or not that's the rule. Edited for grammar.

I did not see anywhere in the rule anything about gaining an advantage. It strictly said gate violation. Harsh yes but being DQ'd could have been a possibility.

Indian Dunes was an hour away. We'd go race Tuesday nights, Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday. The lights for night racing at the International track were a little sketchy on the far side of the track, and if a photo guy hit you with a flash back there, you'd be riding the next section half blind. The pits in the morning smelled like weed and premix. The GPs that used the International track and crossed the river were epic. I still miss that place.

Indian Dunes (So Cal) in the mid seventies. The International Track. The track changed every once in a while, but for a while the first turn was a slight uphill right. The second right turn had a big wall berm with a drop off just after. I remember the drop off had me totally haired out for the longest time. Maybe because I blew the next left too many times. Hodaka's didn't have good brakes! Anyone that rode it more than me and has a better memory than me feel free to correct this. Good Times!

Why do so many guys act like this is a new thing? This is something my dad has taught, shown and worked with me on since I got on 60’s in the late 90’s. That’s not to take away from Jett at all, this is just nothing new.

1. It's not a high speed jump. 2. It's been there for 40+ years and no one has hit it before. 3. Go look at the video again, his back end starts to slide out and it shoots him back inside towards the tree. You can see that exact thing if you watch the moto on Racertv. It happens on the first lap and he's in 2nd going into that section. Not saying that it is his fault, just sometimes shit happens.

Or lose some dirt and don’t have a jump at the tree.
