Coaching and riding are two different skills. Being good at one doesn’t necessarily translate to the other.

Added reply in a thread Chad Reed vs Justin Brayton 1/7/2020 8:44 PM

I suspect there's another factor... Chad is clearly in a financial position where he doesn't need to be doing anything. Brayton is probably still motivated to keep getting good results because it makes a difference to his financial future.

Been banned in Western Australia on private property tracks for at least a decade now. Surprisingly, no injuries or incidents have been recorded in relation to no tear-offs. Hard to believe.

Added reply in a thread Wondering why manufacturers don’t offer different frame sizes? 12/8/2019 2:01 PM

I guess it depends on what is required from a larger frame. On bicycles pretty much every dimension changes except some of the critical angles. What you’re suggesting may not be much different from just putting on a set of bar risers and taller seat. ... more »

Added reply in a thread Wondering why manufacturers don’t offer different frame sizes? 12/8/2019 10:56 AM

Because on a bicycle when you build a larger frame size the only other thing that changes is the length of the chain and tube/cables for brakes and shifters. On a dirt bike you are changing engine mounts, shrouds, cables, chain, chain guides, seat, potentially ... more »

Added reply in a thread Nitrogen myths 11/1/2019 12:36 PM

You guys should listen to Rick more closely. All gases (nitrogen, oxygen, air, water vapour) expand at the same rate. Been scientifically proven countless times. Bottled nitrogen contains no water vapour because of the way it’s produced, not because ... more »

Added reply in a thread Tomac, AC and Kawasaki vindicated? 10/7/2019 1:02 PM

The premise of the OP was that racing these one off races was “dangerous”, risky for being a championship contender and potentially career ending. Doesn’t MEC, RBSR etc carry the same risks? If it’s just not worth the risk vs no monetary reward then ... more »

That may be the case, but it’s small consolation for not winning.

Added reply in a thread 23 Years ago, Rules Were Changed to Protect Our Sport From the Impending Emissions Banning of The 2 Stroke 10/5/2019 1:02 PM

I’ve never understood that argument. How does being harder to ride make it a better bike?

Added reply in a thread 23 Years ago, Rules Were Changed to Protect Our Sport From the Impending Emissions Banning of The 2 Stroke 10/5/2019 12:58 PM

Say what you will about rules, conspiracies etc; there is little doubt in my mind that modern 4 strokes are simply better MX bikes than any two stroke. For me the writing was on the wall in 2000 when I watched Joel Smets lay waste to everyone at the ... more »

Do you actually think that “earning” a number is high on the list of things that motivate a professional rider to do better? If your answer is yes, you are implying that certain riders will start performing better for no reason other than changing the ... more »

Added reply in a thread Number System poll 9/2/2019 1:37 PM

Why would they think that? I see this argument all the time but I don’t understand it. Does anyone rock up to a stick & ball sport of any kind and assume that the players with the lowest numbers are the best ones?

If individual riders choose not to ride MXoN for personal reasons or training/prep whatever that’s OK. Just don’t start dribbling about how it’s too hard. That’s an arrogant slap in the face to the dozens of countries that send riders who don’t get paid, ... more »
