9/17/2023 8:12pm A narrative would be trying to tell a story about the situation, using words like hunter, hunted, aggressive, tentative. I just presented the facts of the lap times. How do explain that during Ken's "late push" on lap 9, where he caught up to Jett, his lap time was the slowest he'd done for 5 laps? How do you explain that from lap 2 to lap 8, Ken only posted a faster lap time than Jett once? How do you explain that on laps 5-8 Jett ran 1:52's and a low 1:53, then all of a sudden on lap 9...

9/17/2023 3:34pm I think people forget how close Jett is to the Roczen family, Ken's dad was at the race and was also a trainer/father figure to Jett in Europe. Jett had the overall and wanted to see Ken win, a selfless act. Americans don't get this as your culture is results driven. You see this in Australian and New Zealand sport all the time, someone about to score a try and then give the ball to someone else who has a birthday or a big game or their last game etc. Kenny is pissy because he thought he had Jett, I...

9/17/2023 3:14pm Haha the level of anger over this, some of the deductions you people come up with are priceless. Maybe go out and ride. Edit: FWIW...IF Jett did slow and let him by, he needs his ass kicked by his employer.

9/17/2023 3:13pm Having just watched it, I think Jett's comments have been widely mis-interpreted. A few differences in Australasian humour that were lost in translation From what I saw/heard, I thought the "big-brain" comment was Jett making fun of himself. The fact he took a couple of laps to be 100% confident that if he finished 2nd he'd still win the overall...

9/17/2023 3:09pm Jett is very smart for back off and letting Kenny by. He risked wadding up trying to run Kenny's pace. He's developed a ton of racecraft and knows when to back it down and when not to. Last night was a great example of that

9/17/2023 3:00pm The whole "big brain" comment seems to be sorta lost in translation with a few people on this board who are older and aren't as familiar with younger/internet culture. The term is ironic. As for the whole letting Ken by thing, pretty lame comment but not as brash as it has been portrayed. I'm still yet to watch the press conference though

9/11/2023 11:15pm It just makes no sense. Just to be a part of it. True, it's a serious long shot the USA can win, but hell, look at the list of countries participating. Most have no chance, but they go, just to be part of the event of the year. Cowardly to hide just because you feel you can't win, step up to the plate, more respectable than hiding!

9/10/2023 3:41pm You don't need to send 40+ members. We ship our own bikes, parts, etc. We're not exactly roughing it either. Google the place our riders will be staying at. Private chef for all the meals. Practice track rented so they can get some riding in. Mechanics are going. Managers are going. You don't need the goggle guy, the gear guy, the manfriends, the moto bros that hang around, etc. Different time, but I believe we went to Latvia for 50k. Our guys don't bitch about it and they were happy to represent our country. Guess what, they're happy to resent...

9/9/2023 2:09pm Why are we acting like that is some insurmountable amount of money to attain? $35k isn't really a lot of money? For a Private Individual, yea - ok, obviously. For a Team or Manufacturer, no. We both know that that is less than the contingency marked for a race win. This is a problem I have always had with a majority of the people that actually have a say in what goes on in this sport. I mean, every sport has problems, but still, this is ridiculous. I am sorry, I don't mean to take this out on you -...

9/8/2023 12:35am My impression has always been that he was on the front end of bringing focused and rigorous training to the sport so in the early days there was some value to it. Now there's a ton of options to get good training and many of them seem to have passed him by. Like every sport, training is going to keep shifting towards rider well being and happiness and away from drill sergeant my way or the highway type of trainers.

8/3/2023 7:25pm There is absolutely nothing to complain about. There are classes at LL's where the "ex Pro's" are allowed, and classes where they aren't. The year I went, I got a 19th against the "ex pro's"(there was 11 of them), and I got an 8th in the "sportsman". I was just as proud of the 19th as the 8th. I was just stoked to be there(Although getting lapped by Seb Tortelli one moto hurt). A professional is someone who CURRENTLY participates in any professional motocross series or event. An amateur is everyone else. Mike Brown, Emig, Carsten, etc., are no longer...

8/3/2023 7:24pm There are plenty of guys that have made a fast 40 and worked a full-time job the entire time they raced. I've supported 3 . I think it's great that Brown still loves racing enough to do it. There are not enough former top pros that are still involved. Right now a 3rd or 4th place finish, and comparable lap times to Brownie is more impressive than winning the title if you eliminate anybody who has made a Fast 40. You would take away more than the top 10 guys in there now.

There are ZERO reasons why any rider that meets the age requirement should be excluded…EVERY single one of us that has ever ridden a dirt bike has the exact SAME opportunity to ride, train, practice, improve and race if so desired! Mike Brown or Jeff Emig or Barry Carsten or (insert random fast guy name here) riders should NOT be excluded because they achieved the ability to ride...

8/2/2023 6:38pm 100% this I raced as a "pro" in both MTB and Triathlon for many years. I was never paid to do so, and funded it all myself. So what was I? Amateur Pro? Pro on voluntary work experience? I was "pro" but I certainly wasn't a professional athlete. Go back a couple of weeks at Washougal, and you had Hamish...
