I’m exhausted with how much the entire commentary team keeps saying “this guy”. It’s like they can’t even say the riders names.
Don’t really like to complain about the broadcasters in the booth, BUTT, last weeks broadcasters, 1000 times better. Wedge and Stew right now are at the top.

He won like 20 of 24 motos I think. One of those motos something went wrong with his forks and they collapsed, I don’t remember who won that moto though. Other than that Tomac was the only person to beat him that season.
James comes across as his natural self where RC is playing his version of broadcaster guy. James isnt perfect either but he has personality and charisma so you can forgive mistakes. RC has no charisma or personality
Agree to disagree. I find James’s ‘natural self’ boring and monotonous. I do wish RC would be a little more laid back. Not a fan of Ralph, either.

Did Art and David provide commentary in real time? Or did they comment over a pre-recorded race? Can’t recall if the events were broadcast live.
Excellent question. There may be exceptions, but I’m pretty certain it was pre-recorded and they would go down to Seals Communications in South Atlanta to record their on camera bits. At least that’s what I’ve heard over the years. This is regarding the outdoor season. I think they were live for Supercross, but I’m not sure.
Control... thats why.... they completely control rc and diffy... they use them because they are puppets.... that do and say exactly what they wish...

I don’t find any of the commentary so bad it detracts from the racing (Unlike the AMA)

What pisses me off is industry insiders always saying it's actually pretty good, nobody is perfect, and it is a hard job. I say if you think it's actually pretty good - why can't we try to be better. And while nobody is perfect that should still be a goal. And if it is a hard job, let's hire the best people we can get for that job. And with a population of 250 million plus in this country why do two of the presentation team have foreign accents? I am not anti-immigrant, but however small, the accent detracts from legibility.
I never even used to notice what the commentators were saying much because I’m focused on the racing.
That was until I sadly read too many of these whinging threads. Now I annoyingly notice it all.
The odd Rickyisms or drinking game comment seemed like good fun, but the constant complaints really detract from the enjoyment of the racing.
Doesn’t matter if it’s Diffey, RC, Stew or Weege, they all make mistakes and they all say dumb stuff, period. There’ll never be a commentator that everyone loves, ever.
Nothing will ever be perfect just for you, so building a fucking bridge and get over it!

It's unbelievable how obsessed and deranged this is.
My son has made a couple of new friends and he introduced them to this sport and they are very young and wasted no time in finding the social side of the sport.
My son told me that both friends asked him recently, if he had any idea what is with the obsession over rider interviews and commentary.
I think all the announcers suck. Even Weege. Too much ridiculous hype. I watched an MXGP race last year, and it was JT with some guy, and I thought it was good. They just talked and it was informative and ok. I never hear "clean air" or some other stupid statement. Just talking. I'll take those 2. Just talk and tell me what's going on. You don't need to talk to hear yourself talk.
You have to wonder why NBC sticks with Leigh and Will. What do we not understand?? Jason and James are clearly better. Leigh is not great, but Will is the worst there has ever been. She is terrible in every direction.

In the grand scheme…we have live Sx every Saturday nite…..I”m sure it’s much more difficult than we think to announce….after Eckman & Bailey, it was always going to be a downgrade….
Rc isn’t doing good but…. You can tell in the broadcast that he is being absolutely stifled by Diffy. There’s a power distance. They expect RC to fluff Diffy. Diffy is the senior analysis and Rc is expected to respect that.
This actually makes a lot of sense. They need to replace or re-train Diffey. There is no dead air and that’s not necessarily a good thing.
I listened to a little bit of the post show and you could really hear how there's not much chemistry between them. Off the cuff, it kinda sounded like they didn't know what to talk about
Disagree. Diffey is supposed to be the experienced broadcaster “play-by-play” guy, while RC serves as the legitimate former champion “color analyst”, to use terms from the network tv model. I believe RC is being intimidated by people much further up the chain of command than Diffey, most likely the executive producer or whomever signs the checks. THAT’S the fool that insists on these unworkable pairings and continues to give Will employment.
Diffey is just annoying and Ricky is a shill for every sponsor of the series. He literally try's to list them before making a point about rider.
Look, the powers that be don’t give a rats fat ass if you like the broadcast team or not. They know you’re going to watch anyway.
You're probably confusing Ricky with one of the 12 guys they had doing analysis in the outdoors a couple years ago - pretty much all of whom provided better commentary than Ricky ever has.
