I bought an all new redesigned Triumph Tiger 900 in 2020....completely redesigned from the 800 model before it, nothing carried over.      I've beaten the hell out of it off-road for almost 4 years now and have no issues with it.

See plenty of the same experience from other owners of newer and older models.

What does a good couch cost, or carpet, a good steak dinner, or inground pool, or ocean cruise? Decent stuff costs money, we live in an age of $65000 pickups friend. If Hodaka came back into business tomorrow and offered $1000 dirt squirts they would gather cobwebs on the dealer floors.

Good call 👍

I worked with VW/Audi cars for years before being strictly motorsport, also spent my share of time playing with mountain bikes, so I have seen as much torx hardware as anyone haha 🤣 I can't recall ever, ever, rounded one out or even slipping or having one get a bit dicey like cheaper Allen bolts can.

I actually just swapped a handful of engine bolts on my KTM to torx only shallow head bolts and button heads with integral washers on light duty / non-critical parts to clean things up a little too.

Furniture is the worst.      The margins on furniture is insane...and then they force you to pay an insane delivery fee, even if you want to pick the stuff up yourself, they won't let you.

Its engineering. Triumph are good at it. Torx fasteners can handle much higher torque than  Allen (internal hex) - and its more than you'd expect, assuming good quality bolt material.

You think Triumph would use them where they are not fit for purpose? Look to China for that.

If you round them out because you didnt clean the dirt out, or hammered in a hex, or used a cheap cheesy torx bit....well, the problem lies a little closer to home :-)

Torx are great and heavy duty for anyone who has experience with them. 100% better than allen heads. Just keep a small pick handy to keep the dirt out. And the good thing that ML said is there was only 2 sizes on the bike which is super convenient so you aren't switching between 20,25,27,30

Let's hope they have a re-think for the Enduro bikes.

By their own words their prior models way back in the day were scramblers, never really made a motocross bike.

Technically, Triumph produced the 1973/74 TR5MX, but they were Triumph-badged BSA Victor B50s.

Triumph needs to do demo days like KTM used to do.

I'm interested in one, but would love a test drive before plunking down $10k.

No argument here.

A classmate going all the way back to middle school got out of engineering to start a furniture business selling "high-end" furniture to people with more money than sense. He's made millions. Blink

ML, you did a great job with that video. Good for Triumph for bringing a high quality bike to market. They have some really good people working there.

Isn't there 2 types of Torx (though, one of the types may not be call Torx?) heads and their respective 'correct' tools to use?

Somewhat analogous to Phillips Head and JIS differences ?

I think that's where  problems will arise for some.

I think in one of the Tests  - Michaels  or Pulps? - (and, as  Press516  pointed out above)  they did say only 2 Torx tool sizes would be needed for general maintenance.

People with get used to it - but I see a market for bolt kits for conversion being filled pretty rapidly, even with , at first , so few Triumphs being around.  BOLT brand type kits, through to say, Doc Wobb's $$$$$$ Ti Kits............

There are 3 or 4 specialist Torx variants but the only ones on bikes, and the only tools you'll ordinarily find, are the standard type.

An American invention, so blame yourselves, Vitards 😂

As someone mentioned , there are 2 types of torx - Torx & Torx+plus ( I think that's what they call it ?)

Found this out the hard way when doing something on my Transit van and couldn't get any of my Torx sockets to fit some part properly.

Apparently the newer type is claimed to be an upgrade that works better , but some people say the old Torx patent was running out, so the newer type are just different enough for a new patent to be granted , so they can still get an income from licence fees

There are more than just two types of Torx!
There’s Torx, Torx Paralobe, Torx Plus, Security Torx, Security Torx Plus, Torx Plus Maxx, Torx ttap, AudiTorx and External/Inverted Torx. Torx Plus did come around when the original patent was expiring but that patent has since expired, too.

Another video! Why a video to talk about a bike test?

Because video gives more routes for crossposting, sponsorship, and monetization than other media types.

Or because the new generation does not like to read. I like videos of racing but I would rather read about the bike than listen to guys talking about it.

I think most folks, old or young prefer a carefully written review. But that requires a lot of work, and doesn't pay the bills for a content creator like Vital.

Car manufacturers went to torx and lowered the stripped out bolts with 20% during manufacturing. There is a reason there is torx on quality brand motorcycles
