mxtech1 Added a reply to 05 yz250 vs 06-12 yz250

You can make the 05 an older stuff work good with a revalve and springs, but you didn't say that. I assumed you were talking stock vs stock. But if you revalve the SSS forks and shock you will be extremely pleased. The 05 forks are nothing special. Just standard units that don't do anything terribly bad, but dont do...

In 06 Yamaha started using SSS (speed senesitive suspension) forks which are vastly better than the conventional forks used before 06. The SSS forks have some good technology and work really well. In stock form, you would notice a big difference between the 05 and 06. I would definately recommend trying to get at least an 06 with the SSS...

No, the shifting detent it on the inside of the right side engine cover. you will have to take the cover of to see it. The shifter rod runs through the bottom of the engine and engages the detent on the right side. I'm guessing your problem has nothing to do with your clutch.

Is the gear shifter locked up too? If the gear shifter is solid, you probably have a problem with the shifting drum. You need to start by pulling the right side engine cover (the smaller case that is between the clutch cover and right side crankcase) and check the shifter detent. Sometimes the springs and shifter detent can come out...

Yea I think you just made yourself make sense of it! It's just one of those little project that's confusing to understand, but once everything falls into place you're like "oh now i get it" and it's never an issue doing another one.

The lard is usually donated by an area slaughterhouse. Did you watch the ATL race this weekend. Malcom Stewart face planted into a jump. When they interviewed him on tv did you see how oily his skin was? It was from the lard in the dirt.

I heard they mix animal lard in with the dirt so it packs together better and forms ruts. The only downside is it makes the dirt slippery.

It's difficult to explain not being there in person. There are adjusters on the cable that can tighten the amount of cable play you have. First, make sure those are backed all the way off so you have as much free play to work with as possible. If you put the cables in reverse order, the throttle will open opposite...

It's pretty easy. The hardest part for newbies is remembering the spoke pattern. It helps if you take pictures of the weel before you take it apart and also write down the hole cross pattern. Truing the wheel is not hard, it just takes some time and patience.

After years of doing suspension and going through countless quarts of suspension fluid, i'm tired of having to order quarts of oil. Does anyone know where I can buy suspension fluid in builk. I'm wanting like 1, 5, or 10, gallon volumes. I tried my local bike shop and they can get 5 gallon pails of Maxima, but the price...

finger-tighten the nipples evenly as you work your way around. when you are done finge-tightening them, they should all have about the same amount of spoke threads showing above the nipple. This is the best way to get the rim close to center before starting to true. After that, just put the wheel on your stand and true it out.

The speed coverage isn't bad and I know it's hard to capture everything going on, i'm just saying there is definately room for improvement. I do like when they utilize the split screen and show the lead rider in one screen and a battle on the other screen.

That's very interesting. Is there a rule that says you have to be centered on the width of the gate when you line up straight? so you can't shift to the right or left to avoid the rut?

I would rather watch gopro battles during the entire race than speed's coverage. There are times when you can tell really good stuff is happening on the track because the crowd is going nuts, but all we see is the camera focused on (insert rider name here) putting in laps with nobody around him. 30 seconds later the crew will...
