mxtech1 Added a reply to Clarification Please:
2/25/2012 8:18am What mike did gave him such a huge advantage because he had a much more direct line to the apex of the first turn. I don't understand why a starter of such a good caliber would do something like that to tarnish his reputation as being a good starter. You have to realize he had thought about doing this before...

mxtech1 Added a reply to Watching crashes
2/25/2012 8:05am I always hate to see bad crashes like the Canard crashes recently. It bums to out to know what a rider is going to have to go through after a crash like that.
Reeds crash at Millville was so horrifc, but I think it turned out to be so inspiring for so many fans and riders alike. Crashes can sometimes...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Riders who don't care how they do
2/25/2012 5:36am Jeff, if you guys need a place to ride the week before St Louis I have a track about 3 hours north of there
mxtech1 Added a reply to Short, but sweet.
2/25/2012 5:13am His bike is looking so much better than the KTMs of the past. The guys at KTM are for sure getting work done and making progress. The bike still probably isn't where they want it yet...but I have to give them big props for doing so much development in a short period of time.

2/24/2012 8:37am Will he do anything for St Louis?

2/24/2012 8:35am Just the engine, suspension, and Ti kit together are about worth the asking prices.

2/24/2012 8:32am X2. I would want to ride the thing a couple times just to know what a bike of that caliber is actually like and then I would prep it for long term storage and put the thing on display forever. Maybe loan it to the AMA hall of fame or something like that to give it a proper display.
If...
mxtech1 Added a reply to Seridi valve seat cutting
2/24/2012 5:42am The Seridi cuts very precise valve seats everytime. It is a very good piece of equipment and works well. They cut much faster than a mechanic can. I cut all my own valve seats by hand with a kit. I have compared my seats to those done on a Seridi and there wasn't much difference. It just takes alot more...

mxtech1 Added a reply to 09 yz 250 detonating
2/21/2012 1:12pm Somewhat true, but difficult to prove for the average rider. This theory goes back to how I explained the slide should be adjusted so it is closed and won't idle. When you shut the throttle completely closed, the slide will fall and starve the engine of air. On the stand, this would cause the engine to die. However, when the...
mxtech1 Added a reply to 09 yz 250 detonating
2/21/2012 10:53am If it idles, the slide is up too far. In this condition, you can usually get away with running a leaner pilot jet. Air sucked through the slide opening is in excess. When you adjust it so it won't idle and shut the slide, you are forcing the air to be pulled through the jetting circuits. This is where the...

mxtech1 Added a reply to 09 yz 250 detonating
2/21/2012 9:37am That's just not true. I've jetted the detonation out of several YZ's. There is a very fine window where the jetting must be to optimize the fuel burn. It's not easy because each bike is slightly different, but it can be done with time and patience.
Running race fuel is not a bad solution. It's just expensive and still requires...
mxtech1 Added a reply to 09 yz 250 detonating
2/21/2012 9:29am Yeah just throw a band-aid over the problem by running race fuel instead of fixing the origin of the problem.
You do realize running race/high octane fuel requires a jetting change also?
So why wouldn't he jet the bike correctly to keep it on pump gas instead of running race fuel through his stock engine and jetting to match the...
mxtech1 Added a reply to 09 yz 250 detonating
2/21/2012 9:07am You're jetting is likely off. You probably need to be +2 on the pilot and main jet with your aftermarket pipe. You shouldn't alter the timing unless you are trying to change the power curve. How does the bike idle? A properly jetted MX bike should not idle on the stand w/o the rider goosing it. If it idles smoothly...
mxtech1 Added a reply to U 4.4 or MR-12?
2/21/2012 8:40am The repercussions are you don't know how you are chemically altering the fuel when you put additives in. Additives will alter the specific gravity, octane number (both points and engine), oxygen level, and will also change how the fuel burns. A company like VP offers so many different fuel blends that you should discuss with your enginer builder your fuel...

mxtech1 Added a reply to U 4.4 or MR-12?
2/21/2012 5:29am Sorry to burst your bubble, but no type of fuel is going to give you a 5hp increase. Average gains are 1-2 hp and sometimes you might see 3hp in an extremely modified engine with very high compression. 40 hp is not alot and I can usually get that out of my engines just by bumping up the compression a...

2/20/2012 12:29pm We can't all be rich and live in Huntingtion Beach like some people on here. I suppose you won't own a car unless it's a Ferrari, won't buy a house unless it's a mansion, and won't pull a chick w/o big tits and a supermodel. I'm sure you wake up and piss excellence from the tip of your golden dick...
