I thought it was interesting at actually how low the hours that they actually do at the races. I "NO" its not necessary but it shows that a racer could easily race the whole SX season on just one race bike.

Open/Qualifying Practices: 3 sessions x 10 laps x 1 minute

Heat race: 8 laps x 1 minute

Main: 20 laps x 1 minute

Total time per race = 58 Minutes

Total per sx season: 17 races x 58 minutes = 16 hours and 26 minutes

Outdoors is a totally different beast....

Aren't the practice sessions 15 minutes?

Do you mean a race bike or a race motor? Two very different things. A motor would not last an entire race season nor would any pro team risk a race by not having a fresh motor. It's cheap insurance.

And "no" I don't think those motors would last an entire season in the hands of your average pro.

Suspension, bearings, bushings... those things get absolutely hammered on a supercross track in very short order.
