So i took my wheels apart in order to have the hubs and wheels powercoated. When i go to lace them up and true them, is there anything i need to know about hub to rim offset? Or will the hub center up as long as i lace it up right and true it. Basically i dont want my tire to rub the swingarm, if i can help it. Any help would be awesome. Bike is a 2008 KX450F, stock wheels.

finger-tighten the nipples evenly as you work your way around. when you are done finge-tightening them, they should all have about the same amount of spoke threads showing above the nipple. This is the best way to get the rim close to center before starting to true. After that, just put the wheel on your stand and true it out.

I was thinking about doing this... How did it come out? How hard is it to lace up? I want to powder coat the rims hubs, and spokes.. Let me know how it goes if you dont mind.. AND good luck..

It's pretty easy. The hardest part for newbies is remembering the spoke pattern. It helps if you take pictures of the weel before you take it apart and also write down the hole cross pattern. Truing the wheel is not hard, it just takes some time and patience.

Thanks fellows for the advice. Relacing the wheel was ver easy. Just you tubed how to lace mx wheels. Finger tightened them to the same amount of threads then trued the wheel up. It went rather smoothly for not knowing what to do. Also, if i got into any trouble during lacing i just went and looked at another big bike in the garage. I think my rims are straighter now than when i took them apart. I would post pics but i dont know how on this site. Let me know, and ill put some up.
