I wish I had done the badge removal on mine.  I let my Mom throw away a couple hundred trophies and almost every motorcycle magazine and comic books from the 70's when she moved.  There was no way my wife (at the time) was going to allow all that dusty, moldy, debris into our house so I just said trash 'em.  Now, I wish I had them.  Especially the big races and the memorable ones.  Huge regret.

Donate them to a club or track that holds mini races. Mine are in the rafters, visible enough to wow the grandkids and neighborhood rats but far enough away that you can’t read “4th place 60 Novice” on them. 😀

Know a guy that turned all his trophy bases/tiers from his 90s wins into miniature paver stones for a walkway in his backyard.  I always converted my weekly trophies into tall monstrosities. Ripped the engraved labels off and stored them in drawer.

I donated 200 trophies to a local BMX track, they were happy to take them.

I kept a plaque that seemed kinda cool as it had a pic of me on one of my favorite bikes.  The rest I threw away.  I kept my race log in which I recorded my race results with a comment about each race.

It’s funny that all these years later I can look through it and remember specific races—what the races were like, moments within them  and the great times with my friends.

I kept 3 that were special to me my very first one, a 1st place from Santa Fe speedway, and 4th place from mid season championship  The rest I Peeled off the engraved plate and I was going to glue them to a poster with maybe a motorcycle in the background and hang it in the basement or garage, but so far the plates are all in a plastic bag in the closet. Lol.

Kept a few plaques....trashed the trophies that hadn't already trashed themselves by simply falling apart just sitting on the shelf.

Nice. You and me both. Got and still have my first one. 1972 on my dad's 1958 BSA Goldstar. Won it on a farmers field track in eastern NC.

I repurposed most of them, swapping the motorcycle for a wrestler and gave them out for years at youth wrestling events hosted by our club.   The kids loved them!

I tried donating the large year end D7 trophies to museum in Baltimore and they declined so they all went in the trash.

That hurt but it was time.

It really depends on what type of person you are. I’m a nostalgic one, I love keeping stuff that reminds me of certain times in my life. I keep all my license plates, tickets and just random little things that bring back memories. Ain’t no way I’d throw my trophies away. They might not mean much to you now, but once you stop riding, you’ll probably look back and be glad you kept them.

I took mine to local cub scouts. Thought they could use them for the pinewood derby. They took them. I don’t know that they used them.

I have a couple now. My first one and a six foot tall one.

I keep saying that one day I’m going to take all my meaningful trophies and put the little brass engraved pieces on a nice piece of oak. Been saying that for over decade. One day I will though.

All the tall trophies are in my parents attic laying on their side. Looks so sad up there.

That is exactly what we did, only we put them on a sheet of plexiglass, several of them in various sizes.  Now those line the walls of a man cave.  Big ones (awards), stayed intact.  Races like the Astrodome, Ponca,  World Mini, Whitney, etc.....  They stay intact.  The rest of the lot were donated to various pee wee sports programs to be rebadged.

Yes, those plastic memories that cost us all a small fucking fortune do seem to clutter a tad......

I'd hate to see the Lawrence storage situation for trophies........  Or any podium worthy pro for that matter.....

I had mine packed away years ago so when I moved a few years back they were no problem moving them to the new place.  I put a shelf up high on a wall in my garage and unpacked them and put them up there, Up out of the way and not taking up any space. If I ever move again ( which I would love to do ) they will not be going with me. I’ll take some pictures and find a place to donate them or leave them on the shelf for the new owners to deal with.

Weird how they come loose just sitting there, and try to tighten them 5 other pieces start spinning lol

I have a 3rd place club 250cc trophy, there were only 3 of us that lined up, A National Champ, another pro, and me a C grade chump, they lapped me in 3 laps. Still I was 3rd.

Did they lap you on their 3rd lap or your 3rd lap?

I can't remember, it would have been the most embarrasing one for me. Lol.

Attic. Then whoever goes up there in the distant future will know how sick the previous home owner was.

I had one that had a metal motorcycle and rider on top, gave it to a buddy who used it as a hood ornament on his 1967 Chevy  pick-up

I dig your answer Swarty89. My guess is that those kids were happier than Team Australia this past weekend !

Put them on Ebay.  There are people who collect that.  Get some money out of your sweat!

Giving them out to mini riders is the best idea here, but this is probably the second best.  Keep the most important ones and give away or eBay.

I can say that I've bought trophy's on eBay before to give out for various things like backyard races, Beerlympics, etc.

I've done this  twice in my life.  Threw out a whole dumpster load of actual trophies.  You won't miss them, nobody cares, and after 10 year  they start to fall apart when you dust them anyhow.

Nobody wants them in a donation either.  Not the track, not even Special Olympic charities.

I'm not building a Rosi or Tim Gajser trophy room either.  Look forward, not behind.  The memories are in your head and only a few people remember an extraordinary feat you did.

Took a pic of all of them, then removed the plates from each one. Mounted the plates on a couple of poster boards and scrapped all of the trophy parts. Big pile of plastic, marble, and 1/4" all thread that went to the scrap yard...
