If the sound on the video is truly their bike. Its a 450. Very deep sound. I just hope it has something different. If everyone comes out with such similar bikes from now on, all you pay for is a name.. Here it comes; The silencer and swingarm looks just like the KTM and Triumph. But the front of the bike and the rear fender looks like a Honda so far.

They're starting with a 450 effort.

Why don't you want Aermacchi back?

What do you mean? Aermacchi is back.

Aermacchi was sold to Cagiva in 1978 and then Cagiva bought Ducati in 1985. Ducati was then sold a few more times but I'm going to say that bike has some Aermacchi DNA.

KTM joined motogp in 2017. After 5 “lackluster” years, KTM is now competitive and arguably Ducati’s toughest competition. I believe this Ducati mx project probably started around the same time. This has to be somewhat of a rivalry for European motorcycle racing hierarchy.

Although, maybe I’m reading too much into it.

Ducati's main competition in MotoGP is Ducati at the moment... They're in a league of their own...

KTM has been improving for sure but seeing Miller's performance this season (fast for a bit and drops down without clear explanations) and seeing the second KTM team (GasGas) results, I doubt the KTM group is super pumped on it yet...

As of Ducati in MX, Tony is a great addition as well as Maddii. Maddii Racing had the Husky 125cc Factory program in the late 90s early 2000s with a lot of success with Chiodi. But times have changed and the other teams have quite a big head start in today's age of MX.

Lastly, it's MX. Not MotoGP or Formula1 where having the bike equipment gives you results. Suzuki sucked for years until they gave the Goat 5 mil a year. KTM sucked until they got Dunj'. If you want to win in MX/SX, you don't need the best bike. RC never raced the best bike other than in MX in 2004. I don't think Dunj or Webb had the best bikes at KTM either when they won their championships. Yamaha won 450 championships lately with the best riders of the moment in the class, Eli and Dylan, not necessarily the best bikes. So, if Ducati wants to be succesful, they need to build a decent bike and buy a potential title contender on his A game.

Dude. It’s a dirt bike. If you are dumb enough they all look the same. Please stop with this shit

Am I the only one that feels that with Ducati entering the sport is somewhat a bad thing? I feel like they are going to want a premium for their bikes, probably 15k or more. I feel like this will make other manufacturers raise prices due this and price the weekend warrior out of the sport. Or I could be wrong and they will undercut KTM to shit on them and it will be a competitively priced bike.

That's not how economics works.

Ducati has more crossover potential than any other company to expose more people to mx/sx, it will be good to have them join the fray.

Probably not the only one Marty, but another brand is a good thing. So what if it $15k? A bike like this will appeal to a certain crowd, that is ok.

When they entered the Superbike segment of street-bikes they entered at the top end, but there bikes came with Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, Magnesium rims, all the good stuff people add after purchase. None of the other manufacturers did that, they had KYB forks and Nissin brakes aluminum rims etc.  They were providing an off the shelf Super-Superbike.

If they do come in at say $15K, it will probably come with all the high-end bits most people add after purchase, like suspension, chain & sprockets, exhaust & tuning, brakes, etc. etc.etc.

Actually, racers replace that stuff you mentioned because the Ohlins and Brembo units they came/come with are no better than the KYB/Showa/Nissin pieces that the Japanese bikes come with. Everyone puts in actual race level fork cartridges and shocks. Replace the brake masters with better units.  It's not good ohlins/brembo race stuff. It's just got the name on it to trick the average consumer into thinking their bike has race quality equipment.   And the wheels were and are aluminum just like everyone else.  They have produced special panigale models that had magnesium wheels but that is it (newer Yamaha R1's come stock with cast magnesium wheels).  Some other models had forged aluminum wheels but for the most part they all came with heavy cast AL wheels.

If you wanted your Ducati to have some better components, you needed the expensive R or RS versions.e.

Honestly, Ducati joining the MX scene is long overdue. I'm looking more forward to this than the Triumph. But at least the sport is growing in manufacturers.

Which riders have a close relationship with Tony Cairoli

Another blacked out dirt bike. I was kinda hoping for something all red, but then we have Honda, Gas Gas, and Beta doing that already.

Maybe just black for the video so it's harder to see details. easier for the video editor to drop the shadows and make it harder to see if its black

Well, if Ducati is in the $15k price range and they sell well it won’t really help us, but Ducati will play into that very little because the damage was already done the last 3 years. We already screwed ourselves in that department because of all the guys that went and bought during peak covid and paid waaaaaay over MSRP for bikes. Then add in that I’m sure almost every FE, RE, WE and SR sold for MSRP or higher(with very few exceptions), we’ve already told Yamaha, KTM, Honda, Kawasaki and Husqvarna that we will pay more and not think twice about it.

Let's revisit this in about 6 months. I visited multiple dealers when I was looking for my new Beta 500RRS and I can 100% tell you their business is down considerably across the board already. Ultimately I spent my money at SVC because I really like Duane, Jeff, Kevin, and Nick a lot, and it's a local business that supports the sport.

I'd like to see it in Marlboro red and white

6 months from now will be interesting to see where things are. I know sales are slow now and I'm sure in 6 months will be much worse. That didn't stop Kawi from raising their MSRP for 2024 though lol.

And SVC is my go to. Just bought a TTR125 for my daughter from them about a month ago. Nick, Jef, Duane and Kevin are all great! Love dealing with all of them down there and they make everything so easy.

If Suzuki doesn’t get serious pretty soon I could see someone co-opting yellow. Kenny’s in the later stage of his career and I don’t think they have a successor. If they’re not putting a serious race team out in the next few years, I could see triumph or one of the newer entries being the new yellow bikes.

These Euro brands would not be entering a category they didn't think they could win in.
