Kawi will have a decade of 'plug and play' championships once the Villopoto kids are of age.

Would Tomac want either of those things?

Me thinks, No.

No one knows what they do.
Yep, I don't really know how these things work so maybe I'm way off but I wouldn't be surprised if Star shipped him out a bike to have at his house

Probable ; and if I were yamaha I would put quite big numbers on wins and championships, because the 2010 generation with JS7 really tarnished the reputation of that bike for more than a decade.

(On the other hand, as Yami had not budget any more, De Carli didnt get a contract renewal and went KTM, and the rest is history, with Cairoli winning 6 more world titles including 4 on the 350, which started ktm's domination in the big class)

Villo is a Yamaha guy now. He is probably pissed that MC is getting the Kawi $$$$$ now instead of him.

Reading between the lines in the Tomac interview RacerX just posted it looks like a 1 year deal with Start for 2022

This is pure speculation, but Tomac strikes me as a guy that wouldn't even leave the state of Colorado if his job didn't require him to (I don't blame him) so I would say the odds of a MXGP run would be nearly zero.

I would have loved to see 2018 Tomac give the GP's a run though.
He still has some years left, and isn’t burned out...so maybe he wouldn’t waste the opportunity like RV did.

Forkner + Cianciarulo is a good team.

A change of scenery is probably good for Tomac too.
If kawi goes forkner + cianciarulo they better have a good list of fill in riders.
Well that would work great for Deano next year. Sure he is buds with AC9

Racer'X interview:

You’ve been at this sport as a championship-winning factory rider for over a decade now. Are you going to go for a while? Are you taking it as it goes?

[Laughs] I do know the future holds another year for Eli Tomac. Yeah, I won’t be done this season by any means. You can count on Eli Tomac for at least Plus 1.

Okay, my man, I have to ask the question: is Eli Tomac going to race for Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha in 2021?

I can’t really talk about that right now, so no comment.

I guess the rumors were true...

I know the reason for the switch!
Kawi rolled out Eli's bike for the nationals, he saw that it still had the stupid oil cooler mounted to it's side and thought to himself: F..k that! I made a fool out of myself running this contraption for long enough.. time to say goodbye!
That is actually a product marketing concept for Kawasaki’s newest sponsor Nvidia. It shows how cool their new graphics chip can run only requiring oil and liquid cooling powdered by a 450cc engine!! Besides both run the team green label in their industries.

Seriously, this seems to be a further change as a result of energy drink money than motorcycle brand money. Seems like the key might have been the Monster contract, then select you flavor of Mx bike that we sponsor. How long is Monsters sponsorship contract with Kawasaki? Wonder how that relationship is?

I see it as a good move. Star has had the best team for a long time in the 250 class. All the 450 star guys improved this season. Plessinger improved more on the Star bike then Barcia did on the Gas Gas. The factory Yamaha team had pretty well documented issue's. Star will continue to improve the bike. If Tomac has officially signed you know he rode the bike and understands the caliber of team he's joining.

Ferrandis did not look so hot.

Plessinger and Mookie looked descent. AP was sorta inconsistent

Likely -- regardless of whether he does poorly or really well on a Yamaha. Also a good chance it would be a career ending move if he stayed on Kawi or moved to any other brand.

He is kinda in the twilight, and it sounds like he is looking to ride out one more contract, thus ending his career.

Ferrandis has been a terrible starter. He had podium speed the entire last half of the season and had some amazing rides through the pack.

Ap almost hit 60 more points then 2020. He moved up 5 spots in the standings.

Malcolm had his first podium on a 450.

I'm excited to see what AP and Ferrandis do outdoors!

The bike was considerably better then 2020. I don't see Star letting the bike be the reason for poor results. All you have to do is listen to the guys from this yr. They put in work on the 450 to improve it. If tomac can't win on it... I think it will be on him.

Considering Ryan is paid by Yamaha now and started his career on a Yamaha way back when I wouldn't put any money on his kids riding green when they are old enough.

I bet his kids will ride whichever pays the most.

Ferrandis looked pretty good. As usual he was a bad starter, with how gnarly the class is anywhere top ten for him is a success..

Mookie and AP had the best 450 years of there careers, a bit better then decent.

If I was tomac (spoiler alert), I am not, I would write in bold letters at the top of the contract.

I WILL NOT RIDE A BLACK YAMAHA!

I WANT MY BIKE TO LOOK MORE LIKE THIS:

Unfortunately the Big Green M gets to dictate what colors they want. Hell, I'd ride a neon pink bike with glitter, sparkles, and yellow polkadots and a cheetah print seat cover if you paid me.

I really wish AP could have got a win. After his Daytona ride I thought he'd be right there. Really looked like he turned it around. He showed some flashes of brilliance, actually a bit more than a flash. But, towards the end of the year he tapered off a bit in the results department.

Hoping he crushes it outdoors.

What other manufacturer has ten 450 SX and MX titles combined in the last ten years? Between RV and ET. Kawasaki has done well. Yamaha’s last 450 MX title was GL. SX with JS. 22 will be different that’s for sure.

You aren’t wrong. Only brand in a longer slump is Honda
