4 strokes would still be the most popular bikes. The Australian MX2 series used to allow 250 2 strokes and no one who was contending for top 5s and above was riding a 2 stroke. EMX250 allows 250 2 strokes and the 4 strokes sweep the podium probably 90% of the time

Yeah, me too. Not sure if it’s the changing environment or what. Seems like it was a pretty good gig at an established outlet. There are so many start up “YouTube” content creators it has to be hard to break through.

Except James Povolny has dozens of top 20 MX and SX finishes in the 250 class from the same era.

They look great and I like the idea. I even nearly bought a carbed 300 recently. But - in every test/comparo I read: They don’t have the most power/best suspension/best handling or lowest weight. A test of the 125 MX said the power band was “difficult” and for pros only, but not as powerful as the Austrian bikes. Maybe like true works bikes - actually worse for the masses - unless you can get it perfectly set up. Most tests end up praising the uniqueness.

That and the trend is to make the tracks faster. Every corner is a sweeping banked turn. Hardly any tight 180 turns anymore. Lap times get shorter, tracks get turned into layouts that they could pave and use for roadracing. Look at redbud. Look at ironman. Whole sections have been eliminated from what they used 10 years ago. They even talked about the changes at southwick at the start of the show, and how it was going to mean higher speeds. They were right
