I'll bet he didn't save nearly as much on his car insurance as they promised.

I'm hoping someone spills the truth on here and I get to see it before it disappears Tongue

I find it a bit strange that he deleted all the pics of him riding the honda and representing the G.H. Team on ig.
Maybe switching back to ktm...

Deletes pics, but leaving because of family commitment.

Yup, makes perfect sense.

He told them its me or the lizard. They kept the lizard. I wish i had some animation talent. I could do a really funny sketch here.

In spite of all Ryan has accomplished, he is still young. And human. He has lots of time and opportunity to change directions, have a success, make a mistake, learn what life has to offer. Because of his fame he is doing it, good or bad, more publicly than most of us. Oh well and have fun, eh?

Wow, how embarrassing. He should have just hired someone to take care of his duties for him while he stood back in silence in a lesser role.

Should’ve stuck to a one word response, guy.

Clearly there’s more to the story.

Without reading through all the comments, my guess is that the partnership worked out great until the first “cash call” for owners to put up their own money to cover unforeseen, unbudgeted expenses......

Fair decision for both parties. If he can not give the team his all then it's best for both to split. I would like to know how he became 'part owner' and all of the finacials behind the scenes.

Yeah or maybe nowhere. I could easily see him realizing how the travel sucks, especially now that he has a family. After being in airports for 12 years, I could not blame him if he wanted to live the quiet Minnesota life.

I can’t confirm but I heard at a social gathering that he hated the Twin exhaust system.

It literally could of been a family thing to be honest. Maybe wifey is like dude you need to be home. It could be as simple as that. I’m not raising this baby on my own and so he walked away knowing he couldn’t commit like he had too. He pretty much said that so that’s probably what it is.
What? His wife has got it made because of ryans career and shes gonna give that BS because hes gone a couple days a week? I doubt thats the reason.

He wanted the lizard's spot in the Geico commercials and they said...no. Either that or he was bangin Flo from Progressive. Conflict of interest and so forth.

seriously- who would travel with a new baby at home? I always wondered if he walked onto the team as a marketing tool/test rider, and didnt front any $$. Then they wanted him to do more..
There are a number of active racers in the top 20 who have new babys at home. But to answer your question, I wouldn't travel with a new baby at home. Mine is 4.5 months and hate going to work and leaving him!

One of my least favorite things about moto. Every other sport is super transparent compared to all disciplines of dirt bikes

I agree.....these kinds of things are always predicated upon something else. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he winds up with some kind of new deal with another mfg and gives some bullshit line about "coming back home to his roots blah blah blah this is something I've always wanted blah blah blah"

I could be wrong but 99.99% of the time these kinds of divorces are so phony where said rider has something else in the works.

Instead of calling him a liar, how about giving him the benefit of the doubt?

You know literally 0% about the situation, yet you’re confident you know all the ins and outs and jump straight to calling him a phony and his statement bullshit...

Besides, the statement leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Basically just says he couldn’t commit to what the team needed him to and they agreed to separate. Maybe it was time, maybe it was money, maybe it was involvement.. We don’t know. What I do know is that you’re speculating on a lot of things and judging a mans character in the process.
You always put things into perspective and how we should look at things rather than how we do look at them. I pretty much agree with all your posts.Cool

Yeah i'm not buying the family/wife theory. You really think that Ryan Dungey didn't know what he got in to? Or that he could not do it in his own way as a partner in the ownership?

Just ask how many times people quit to spend more time with thier families, and then all of a sudden reappear in a new role a month or so later.

Unfortunately motocross is not even a sport compared to most sports.

He never said he left because of family reasons.

Maybe he thought he would get a return on his part ownership investment. Then found out they just wanted to spread the losses around to more people.
Dungey asking the others when he would get his first check.

I'm not shocked that he left. I was shocked he that he made the deal.

If Geico Honda was a successful operation what would they need Ryan for? His money? No for his expertise. That would require time and energy for him to be out testing and racing with the team. New baby, beautiful wife, couple bucks in the bank...I guess I'd have a hard time working my ass of as well.

If they were struggling financially then I'm not sure what he could have done to increase their value. It's hard to watch your savings go down for something you don't have your heart into for the long haul.

Anyhow, who knows. If he does flip over affiliate himself with Gas Gas or KTM then it will look bad. Who knows, maybe their brand ambassador role pays more than his ROI with Geico. Less time, more money, it's business and I wouldn't blame him.

If he did delete all the Honda photos/posts that tells you there are some bitter feelings about something. If he was just going to another operation there would be no real reason to delete pictures.

Whatever the reasons, not going to speculate, had to be worth the hit he knew he was going to take to his reputation that he worked extremely hard to uphold his entire pro career. We all know there's way more to this.

exactly, way more to it than "family life". and after all these years living in the pits, he never realized what it takes to be a team manager/owner/management?? like never even paid interest to it?
They found the worst b.s. excuse for the breakup.

Yeah I agree with you there. When he was on Pulp right when this went public he was reluctant or hesitated in some of his answers about testing or helping with the riders setups etc. I don't think he realized how much they needed him and being a new dad takes time.
