He’s going to race outdoors on KTM. I’m reading RacerX right now where they said he was interested in racing a Honda outdoors but would never ride a Supercross bike again.

I bet KTM offered to buy him out of Geico plus a buttload of money to race outdoors. Maybe Webb is more hurt then we thought?
after he retired before racing MX in 2017 I can't imagine he would want to come back now and race Eli and the gang outdoors. I'd say there's like a 1% chance he races again (indoors or out) if I was a betting man.

I agree.....these kinds of things are always predicated upon something else. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he winds up with some kind of new deal with another mfg and gives some bullshit line about "coming back home to his roots blah blah blah this is something I've always wanted blah blah blah"

I could be wrong but 99.99% of the time these kinds of divorces are so phony where said rider has something else in the works.

Instead of calling him a liar, how about giving him the benefit of the doubt?

You know literally 0% about the situation, yet you’re confident you know all the ins and outs and jump straight to calling him a phony and his statement bullshit...

Besides, the statement leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Basically just says he couldn’t commit to what the team needed him to and they agreed to separate. Maybe it was time, maybe it was money, maybe it was involvement.. We don’t know. What I do know is that you’re speculating on a lot of things and judging a mans character in the process.
No time for your common sense, grab your pitchfork and get in line; there's fuckery afoot!

Just thinkin way outside the box here....but wondering if possibly a sponsor has/is/might be pulling out and he doesn't want to on the hook? Haven't read all four pages, so I'm sorry if someone already mentioned it.

Wait for it to go 12 pages and read page 8 for a snip it of info, skip the rest.

Obviously he was sent over to G.H. as a spy.
He got the goods, and is headed back home (to KTM) now.

Hey, it's as good a story as any of you other jokers have come up with.

Seems really out of character for him. Initial reaction is to lose a little respect. You could at least finish the season out of respect to the company, the team and the riders. But I'll do my best to reserve judgement until the whole story comes out.

You sound like you have a strong rebuttal. Tell us more about how Ryan Dungey of all riders would shock the industry by changing brands and invest his own money (while being a new dad), and doing so without even understanding WTF he's actually signing up for?

Chris99Flannery (if that's even your real name)... You're on the clock.

Ryan Dungey severed ties with Geico Honda. Now you're as fully up to speed as the rest of us.

It’s funny how a successful business man like Majkrzak can build and run a top level team as a side project while maintaining other businesses that are more profitable, yet a rider can’t separate from the thought of being “normal” so much he bails on the agreement.

There’s levels to this shit.

I just skipped right to page 4, by page 12 I'm sure he'll have found the cure for the Coronavirus.

Yeah, probably a higher risk to his capital than he wanted. He has form: he let down MX and his legions of fans when he retired 5 years early.

I am on your side of thinking. I don't think after being indentured in high level race teams that he had no idea about the future he signed up to.
I'm amazed many think the PR is the whole story.

It was attention getting PR for the team.

I'd assume that Dungey was on a trial deal:' if I like I'll buy' arrangement.

Very common for people buying businesses.

As with most things, especially in racing, the view from the outside and the view on the inside are never the same... as with most things Moto we will never get to know.

Target made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. He’s now stocking shelves on the midnight shift in his hometown. All kidding aside, best of luck in whatever comes next.

We'll never know , this sport doesnt even disclose how much a rider weighs let alone closed door business decisions.

I think your statement is quite reasonable.. it is out of character for someone who always came across as someone who sticks things out.
Could be a lot to read into it or absolutely fuck all.
He just couldn’t be bothered. ,
I will say deleting every post off his Instagram to do with Honda except him quitting seems interesting

Having a wife and child myself I could definitely see this being a family time driven decision (happy wife happy life) but I would really really love to see Dunge back under the KTM umbrella. Geico and the Dunge was a weird fit in the first place if you ask me, but either way I hope the dude is enjoying post pro-racing life.
