I’ve been a Reed fan for his entire career in the U.S. but he really does need to retire. I get his desire to remain in the spotlight and even at his age he can pull a top 5 but they’re getting farther and fewer in between. Bow out while you’ve got your dignity and health, call it a day and go the way of Dungey. Grab some young guys, coach them up to be contenders and enjoy your family for the next 20yrs. At some point there has to be another DeCoster to bring the sport along, perhaps he can step into that role?

You’d retire if you were still able to get top 5’s? Dang.

Only when the stars aligned and the rest of the time I raced for 12-15, you bet. I don’t give a shit what I’m racing, if I go from being top dog to having my skills and body deteriorate to where I’m racing mid-pack, I’m out!

Reed will be a lapper more times than a top 5 this year.

you guys really think this old bastard can do nythinggg?!?? if ktm even thunk about hiring this dude like they did back before the 2k17 season(hence where the photo came from), his contract should be show up to race, bonus money and a cup of dirt for salary... dudes like alex ray and jerry robbin would die for this opportunity...maybe someone connect them with ktm for tryouts?? idk just my .02

But you're not Reed, and he can do what best suits him.

He can get 15th place until he’s 50 IDGAF, I’m saying I wouldn’t do it. My opinion, suits my lifestyle.

Easy there Sparky. You have about zero perspective on being top dog in SX.
Have a beer, check your trophy case and your bank account, and settle back into reality.

Yeah but no one cares what you would do in a hypothetical situation. Reed’s getting paid to do what he loves at the highest level and giving it one last go as a nice farewell to all the fans. He’s only adding to his legend, not taking anything away from it.

He’s said this is his last year and instead of embracing the man, you’re saying he should pack his bags and go away. What’s wrong with you?

He should have announced last year. Let’s see how it plays out. If he finishes top ten in points I’ll eat crow.

Insert Reed naysayers with the standard “he sucks, should have retired, he will bitch about the bike” comments. Funny, Chad hasn’t said one negative word about JGR

And no one logs the numerous times Reed has complimented the bike and team, while criticizing himself. He loved the ‘11-‘12 Honda, and didn’t like the ‘13. So folks say he trashed Honda. Go figure. The guy just speaks his mind. I guess that bothers some people.

He was incredible in his day and I will always respect him for what he did and his skill on a bike but off a bike he’s the biggest crybaby in motocross. He’s literally Chad Kapernick. Every single team he has ever rode for, other than JGR , which is a miracle, he has thrown under the bus the second things don’t go his way. Yamaha sucks, kawi sucks ,husky sucks, Honda sucks, discount tire sucks, motocross suck, his neighbor sucks, Jason Thomas sucks, track builders suck, the track suck, dirt sucks, feld sucks, agents suck, monster sucks,...... Actually the only person he hasn’t said sucks is his wife.

His presence on a team is a black hole of negativity. He has shown to have no respect for anyone and thinks he is above all. He complains about every aspect of the bike and works mechanics in circles changing every possible option because he can’t just understand he’s 37yo old and not as fast as he used to be.

Even if so, that would just put him in the lower 1/3 of Factory supported riders, but as a rider with a significantly better resume, fan support level, and knowledge of the business/sport than the other candidates.

And by that you mean if it was you you would've announced it last year? Cause otherwise you couldn't give a fuck

Announced last year that next year would be his last? Otherwise, it would have been a lie.

Davalos is already in at tedder with a full factory ktm. So Reed at red bull makes sense it's a great deal. Everyone knows that at the end of the year it's over there's no vision of hope for a contract extention or anything.

Davalos getting bump to red bull and leaving tedder stuck with extra personal would suck unless reed went tedder?

Tedder doesn’t have full factory bikes. They’ll be good bikes, but they won’t be factory.

Not entirely true. Believe they are getting factory parts.
According to the interview Tedder did with RacerX, they are on the same equipment and will be getting the same information as RB KTM and RM KTM

Yep it's funny, he says something negative about the bike "oh he's such a whiner" then he'll say something negative about himself and they'll say "oh he's finally being honest" haha

What if he gets on the orange bike and catches fire like CW2? That would be something else.

Reality: Few people are straight-up honest when putting blame on others, but are generally so (or performing an equally-admirable act of selflessness) when taking it on themselves.

Personally, i would rather see PartyMarty on that bike than Reed, davalos has asked for years now to prove himself on a 450.
He got a 450 outdoors ride and absolutely crushed it, but no SX spot.

Difference between them is Marty will bring results but not drama. Reed will bring drama and excuses but not results. February I will say I told you so..

Maybe the ktm will help his starts you saw in australia even with a lack of time on the bike and broken ribs a start will get him fired up.

If everyone who was mid-pack left the sport we’d have some very empty gates.

Reeds a 15th place guy who’s had one foot out of the sport for years. He barely rides or trains and blame it on everyone else but the truth is it’s not his priority anymore. I don’t fault him for that, he’s done his part. Give the ride to someone who might benefit from it. Im also over his cocky know it all, I’m better than everyone attitude. Not to mention the word “ummmmmm” 80,000 times per interview. Amazing rider but get out out the way for the new kids. Literally.
If someone else wants the ride, then all they need to do is ride faster than Reed and prove they are worth it.

Good move for RB KTM, Webb is the #1 now and he and Reed seemed to do fine as teammates at Yamaha. Can't think of a better second rider, maybe he and Coop can actually converse on this team lol!
