Maybe I'm old fashioned or just dumb but I like my $6500 KX450s. I have a mint set of CV spring forks that I slap on every new bike I buy and that makes an awesome motorcycle for not much money. I'm sure these FE/RE/WE bikes are amazing but are they $5000 better to an average 40B rider like myself? Maybe one day I'll buy one and be able to answer that question.

That being said, they certainly have a market and should do really well.

Exactly. It’s all about looking good and feeling good.

All joking aside, the reason I bought my KX450F was because it was the cheapest new 450 available to me at the time. Laughing

Ported head, yosh exhaust and coatings thats actual serious improvements. I always thought the ktm factory editions needed more than just bling and whatnot. Some coatings, porting, factory parts is awesome.

exactly- my FC450 is slightly better than my old trusty RMZ450, but at nearly twice the cost, there is no way the FC450 is twice as good! the RMZ and KXF are massively better value than anything out there, and neither of those bikes are holding anyone back.

I am actually embarrassed that i spent so much so on a dirt bike to go ride open practice LOL!

I was thinking of a new bike next year. But at these prices I think I'll keep my 80 hour 13 CRF450r. I'll have the motor redone (maybe with a new Rekluse), new wheels and tires, fresh plastics/graphics, and spend the money I saved riding more often. It's not like I need a new bike as a 55 year old Vet Intermediate. I can't use all of what I have as it is.

That's $1000 more than a KTM FE. Of course you get 20lbs more bike for that $1,000. I kid. I kid. Seriously, nice bike. I love my 14FE. And am glad the other manufacturers are getting in the special edition game.

Im not completely sold.. why? Because the stock R is so good that these ”upgrades” arent really needed, but if you got the cash, spend it

It's all relative. 99% of the people on this forum can't ride a 2006 250f to its full potential or a 1986 CR250 for that matter. Does that mean they can't have a 2014 450F? This is just one step further.

Admittedly, when I was 22, I'd hate on the slow vet riders with all the bling, but now I'm one of those guys. I had no money back then and I wasn't good enough to be sponsored or given any bling, so I went and built a career and now I'm my own 'factory sponsor'.

No one really expects the guy driving a Subaru WRX on the road to drive like Ken Block or the guy riding a Ducati street bike to be at Rossi's level, so this shouldn't be any different.

Really curious what the 450L is gonna go for. If they can come in a couple grand under the KTM 350/ 500 I think there'd be a lot of demand. Japanese dual sport/supermoto options have been limited to 20 HP 250s and the DRZ400 that is missing 6th gear, so you either sell your kidney for a KTM or build one yourself from a CRF-X or WR.

The cylinder head is the big deal here, can you buy the head and slap it on your standard bike? Because that's the big deal, you can buy everything else over the counter. Kudos to Honda for giving the masses a small piece of unobtanium
5/23/2018 3:57pm
agree on if you like it who cares. once everything else is taken care of have some fun. go all factory or works you want. only live once, we don't get to come back around. I see big money boats that just float a few times a year. high dollar sports cars that never get opened up. etc.
the clutch would have been sweet for the price range though.

I will be surprised if there is a part number for the ported-in-Japan cylinder head. You could borrow one from a Works Edition and have the porting duplicated in a stock cylinder head.

Good looking machine but I'm not seeing an extra 3k worth of value on it. It's more of a "premium" edition than a "works" edition. Go for it rich boys.

Pretty sure I saw $10,499 so still a very pricey machine.

This trumps KTM big time. Little more money but who cares its only paper. Was going to buy the 2019 KX450 for my son but this might change that.
Im definitely not rich lol. Dead ass broke. Wear the same clothes for 5 years. Drive a 10 year old vehicle to work. Just have my priorities in line lol.

CRF450RWE Key Features:

• Unique cylinder head with factory hand-polished ports improves torque feeling from low- to midrange, especially between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm, for even quicker lap times

• Yoshimura slip-on muffler with titanium body and pipes, plus carbon fiber tail caps, exclusively designed for the CRF450RWE

• ECU settings optimize performance advantages of the Yoshimura exhaust and cylinder-head updates • HRC launch control with special settings influenced by Ken Roczen

• Kashima fork-tube coating reduces friction and improves handling performance. Developed by Miyaki Company of Japan, Kashima coating is a special treatment for hard-anodized finishes that fills the micro-pores on the surface of hardanodized aluminum for better lubrication and reduced stiction

• Titanium nitride coating on fork legs enhances suspension feel

• Shock shaft processed with Super Finisher and coated with titanium nitride for superior performance • Stronger D.I.D LT-X black rims with special laser-engraved logo • High-performance gold RK chain

• Throttle Jockey factory Team Honda HRC graphics and seat cover for premium look and enhanced grip during acceleration

• Top and bottom triple clamps in black complement high-end look

1200$ and 247lbs. Thats 3lbs from a 98 yz400. This cow is another nail in the coffin for the sport.

As long as it is the heaviest 450 and has dual exhaust. Who cares. You can buy a fat cow the same weight and cheeper with kyb suspension.
