He's been paid to: Win WORLD Titles Be a team manager for one of the greatest teams ever: 80s Team Honda that won countless titles Be a team manager for Suzuki which won numerous titles Be a team manager for KTM in their USA efforts which payed off BIG TIME. It's just icing on the cake he managed so many winning MXoN teams.

I don't like the banners but they are a necessary evil for sponsorship dollars. There SHOULD be gaps for quicker re-entry to the track. A much bigger problem from a viewing perspective is the easy ups along the fence. They shouldn't be allowed within 20 feet of the fence. This isn't the '70's when you had access to most of the track. Viewing areas are more limited nowadays. A good percentage of what there is (see what I did there Gibby) gets hogged up by ez-ups. Oh well, I usually find a way to see what I want.

Fans do too. And more and more viewing is being swallowed up buy those banners and very expensive VIP areas that aren't even half full.

It's the advertising equivalent of an all-caps chainmail. I like how they had to make an energy drink that's not an energy drink so the guys could drink it (tour water).

It's interesting you mention the goggles around the neck. I watched yesterdays race with a friend who rides but has never seen a race and he couldn't believe the podium shenanigans with them handing the rider an energy drink, goggles, and hat.

It's been a cheesy whoring sport for as long as I can remember, which goes back to about '89. The goggles around the neck has been a joke since I was thirteen. The track has been increasingly littered with chinese plastic and if anything, they'll think they should add more so that it provides better cushioning in case of a crash. Sure the riders will be rolled up in banners a look like a porcupine with a hundred impalings of acerbis track markers, but at least acerbis will get some good advertising when the riders are carted off the track.

I posted this in the other thread about Justin Cooper. "Question for MX sports: What is more important, sponsor banners or racing? Since the advent of sponsor banners we have seen them get stuck in wheels, limit viewing in some areas, cause issues with re-entering the track. Outside variables that are not inherently part of racing should NEVER significantly impact a race result, yet we have seen many examples of his over the years. Yes, sponsors are important to keep racing alive. But perhaps now that we have seen these banners negatively impact racing it is time for an adjustment...

Ok maybe not 90 we'll say 75-80 then thats a fact. When you combine the areas the fans are actually permitted to watch the races from its very limited viewing. Maybe you're ok with watching their helmets but i am not At least at the 4 national tracks ive been to

The repeater banners are fucking ridiculous in so many ways. They decreased the viewing at a national by about 90%. Throw in the gay vip sections there goes the other 10%. Not to over look your point of gaining access back onto the track.
