A lot depends on your skill and they type of "dual sporting" you are doing. The term is relative to location IMO, I'm in east TN surrounded by mtns, I can hit gravel roads in 10mins from my house, ride all day and not see but maybe 10miles of pavement if that. I've rode and raced mx and offroad for over 25yrs but bought my first dual sport a couple years ago. It was DR650, for gravel and pavement it was nice, but heavy. If we found any honey holes (single track) the fun factor tanked because of how heavy...

You consider the 350? It’s got tons of power compared to the 250 and way more usable than 450 in my opinion.

I have over 60 hours on my Alta MXR. Its a fantastic motocross bike, dare i say the best all around bike i've ever ridden. It's my primary race bike at the moment, and is my bike of choice every time i go riding. Chassis is well balanced, turns on a dime yet never gets unstable and jumps straight. Has awesome power- more low end torque than a 450 and the top end of a 350. I really just get to focus on my lines and riding smooth and never worry about being in the right gear or in the...

Dennis Kirk had a ride day a month or so back at a local indoor track and had demo Fly Formula helmets to try out. Used one there and really liked it so I ordered one of my own. Helmet came in a couple weeks ago and finally got out this past Saturday to ride at Meadow Valley. Overall I am digging the helmet, here are a couple things I noticed coming from a Klim F4. Tight fit, but in a good way, better way to say it might be a snug fit. I'm a medium in about all helmet...

I've used both. Both forks can be set up to work very good. As far as shocks I have only ridden one of the new style Ohlins shocks and wasn't impressed at all. The old ohlins Shock was so good. The Trax Shock is awesome with or without trax enabled. I'd buy the WP stuff for sure if the money isn't an issue. If you want to save money there are lots of cartridge kits that work good, and lots of team kinda guys use the stock shocks with revalve and bladder kits. The rear shock isn't an issue.

I know there was a topic recently about Sprint Enduro but I can't seem to find it.. I want to share my experience trying last weekends Battle Creek Michigan Sprint Enduro. The club did a great job and I highly recommend attending one of the other 6 rounds in you live in the area. There were about 350 entries, 20 of which were for round 2 of the co-sanctioned East Coast ISDE Qualifier series. I ended up winning the overall with a 1-2 on my very stock 09 yz125 play bike, check out the video to ride along! Along with...

It’s the whole package. They miss everything. We heard the crowd go loud and saw Marvin dropping on the left side timing so obvious he went down and the announcers are just talking like nothing happened when I’m like how do you not hear and see that. Then Daniel Blair talks way too long when they go to him trying to be all cool and smart and it’s just annoying. Just so fuc**** frustrating when the camera and announcers keep missing the action.

Can someone please explain. with a rational reason, why ebikes are so hated in the MTB community? It's not like you twist a throttle and the thing goes. Isn't it basically just a pedal assist that allows you to go longer? Why the hell is that so frowned upon? Why are they not allowed on trails? They do zero extra damage compared to a regular MTB, other than maybe going a little bit longer. It's not like the damn thing is digging trenches in the ground because the motor is so gnarly. It's nothing like a motorcycle...

I am a very frequent lurker, used to post a lot back in the day and love bench racing. Haven’t been around for a while just because of being busy but have had some time off because if a Moto injury. I’m getting old. No crash, just landed hard and broke my L1 Anyways, I must say... Holy crap there are some serious complainers in here. Everything seems to be so negative. I’m hoping your everyday lives are a little bit happier. I try to avoid the negative threads / comments and I certainly know the rule, I don’t have...

A shame. Herlings racing the Nationals would likely create far more more interest worldwide than anything else KTM achieves in 2019, championships included. Isn't that the whole point of a manufacturer going racing ?

MX race formats need to be looked at, there's so much that could be improved. For one, it sucks spending a whole day to spin two 5-10 minute moto's that can be 6 hrs apart that cost you $45 and whatever other mandatory membership you need for the day that costs an additional $40-50, and you might get a 5 minute practice before the racing. Plus, most peoples attitudes at the track are based off their ego. There's a reason off road racing numbers are growing, more riding, friendlier crowd, more fun. Just my .02

The majority of the current motocross community is very well off especially for their age. And it's wealthy dr's and lawyers and small business owners who are the parents of the kids IN this sport. Inflation is a reflection of "rising cost of living" - everything gets more expensive. Some wages are stagnant - but the demographics of those who WATCH sx are 25-35 and over 70k a year individual income. That's enough to own a dirtbike in most states and why toyota markets in SX. 25-35 year old males who have the income to by a tundra and want...

Top notch quality talk. Which one comes with an hr meter built into clamps stock? Which comes with brembo brakes? Hydro clutch? Tool less air filter and better sealing design? Frame guards? Odi grips instead of the hardest cheapest pieces of shit they can find? A chain that lasts instead of again the cheapest they can find? Lightest in the class. Best clutch and brakes in class by a big margin. Im not a fan boy i have owned them all. But this talk of jap quality is such a joke. They outfit their bikes with the cheapest of the...
