He rides over the front, but wants a soft setup anyway. And just as RJ he trusts it to have great traction all the time. That's why he is so fast, he is closest to the limit at all time, but also why it bites him. All the riders would be tweaking the setups if Jett was in it now. They are ok, because Jetts and Chases 0.5-0.8sec advantage hasn't made them realize they need to do something.

It was cool to hear him being transparent about how Jett crashed- accidentally hitting neutral on the face of the jump and then game over. Also I was very surprised that he mentioned Jett could be back for some SX rounds. A recovery that quick from that type of injury would be historic.

Everyone is making it seem like this is a Sexton only problem, however in reality most riders are constantly searching for the "perfect" set up.. but they aren't in the limelight. Round 2? not concerned, Round 5..6..7... yes. He has only done a single race on the Kawi and he feels like he could improve the setup, race conditions are impossible to reproduce practicing, this happens all the time. Both Lawrence's missed their set up last year (while on the same manufacture as previous year) and made big changes during the first few round for them and it seems to...

Putting in a qualification lap on a decent track, and riding 20min at the end of a night is not comparable. Anyone that has done testing knows that. You will get away with a lot earlier in a race day during sprint laps. Non of the riders in the field today can ride around a bike that they are not comfortable on and still podium. None. Shock was slightly off for Jett and he had to settle for a third last season. So not even he can do it. Certain riders have speed because of how they setup their bikes...

That should tell everyone that whatever is happening over at kawi isn’t working. You had two riders not finish the season last year (maybe Anderson was actually hurt, who knows) one rider quit leaving millions of dollars on the table. The two new riders, one crashes in the heat, one doesn’t make it through the heat, then crashes in the lcq and doesn’t make the main. Also, crashes during the week and misses a round. Then you got chase who looked like an average sx racer on the weekend, and now has a full set up from a different company...

I said this in the off-season, and its still true after Rd. 1. Chase and Kawi really screw up by not doing off-season races. Yeah, it's only one round, and he'll more than likely turn it around. But his main competition is already pretty far ahead of him on points. All of the top guys who raced some or all of those off-season races finished ahead of him. He is not a mental case. Its his riding style and speed that makes him very sensitive to bike setup. If you want to go 0.5-0.8sec faster than everyone else consistently, setup needs to be in point. Not even Jett can work around that. Jett is one out of 100 that can work around it slightly, but even him backed of and took a third when not comfortable on bike. And he has a more neutral riding style allowing for bigger window. Chase could ride around with the setup he had last week and probably make it to podium. But...

Honestly… can we just set our expectations that this is just how Sexton is. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him win by 10 seconds this weekend and a 4th the next.

Until yesterday everyone was saying team kawasaki wasnt willing to change anything to accommodate the rider. Sounds like they're committed to helping chase with what he needs to wim races.

It doesn't matter. Chase is talented enough to win on anything. He's also mental enough to lose on anything. Let him change everything every week if that's what gets him to be confident chase instead of dirt sampling chase. The actual setup barely matters at this point. I also remain convinced he'd be better off if his dad just sat in the stands and drank beer and let the team deal with the emotional roller coaster instead of always being there and turning it up to 11. But it's just a guess.

Give him what works for him not what you want to work for him! Kawi should set the bike up so Chase can win on it and no one else, who should care at all what he wants changed he’s the one riding it.

I dont understand whats wrong with trying different suspension and parts. The big knock the media keeps talking about Kawasaki is that they wont change parts. Stop contradicting yourselves.
