If you read through this whole thread you need to take everything this guy says with a large heaping of salt. Reads like someone that has no idea how to set up a bike.

I don’t think C class matches your definition of “newer but not beginners.” I’ve been riding since I was 13 but I’ve never had the speed or mentality to hang it out there like a lot of the B guys do. I also don’t have the funds or free time to get out to ride each weekend to get to B level of speed. Not a beginner for D class, not fast enough for B class, so C serves its purpose for me. Having a C class championship at Loretta’s, however, doesn’t make sense to me.

I’ve ran the KYB inserts for the last 2 years and was convinced they couldn’t be beat, even against kit forks and cone valves. I recently went back to back with 6500s dialled in and they were just as good with a slight traction advantage over the KYB. MX and off-road. Well worth it IMO.

These are great. They are essentially the same cartridge as a Pro Component Cone Valve with a mid valve piston and shim setup instead of the aluminum cones. In my opinion the biggest difference in comfort is the fact you are still using a stock AER/Xact outer tube and fork lugs. The billet lugs and substantial upper tubes on the Cone Valve kit forks are quite stiff in comparison. Your are essentially getting the performance and consistency of the twin chamber cartridges in the more comfortable outer tube and lug combination. I have built quite a few sets of both...

Use the support that doubles as a side stand that came with the bike. That is exactly what that is for!

For me, the inserts give me more comfort than my WP XACT PRO 7548 in the initial stroke and I can run a lower oil height and heavier spring to lessen the mid-stroke harshness I tend to get with the Cone valve fork on choppy tracks like Glen Helen. I took the insert fork with me to NL this past summer to ride with - some of the faster EMX guys that tried it said they liked the insert fork better than their KYB setup from Technical Touch.

A 250f would still be plenty at your weight so I’m sure the 350 would feel like a beast but not quite as much as a 450 Life’s short buy the dirtbike!!

The 6500 inserts are fantastic. We got some of the first sets of this updated cartridge back in May, and this fork has a lot more comfort than the current WP Pro "cone valve" fork. I took my WP pro fork off and run these on my personal bike, and a few guys a lot faster than me lhave tried these and like them also. You cant go wrong with these things. Of course proper set up is key like everything else...

38 years ago in 1985 Husqvarna fielded a Factory SX/MX team after going to a single rear shock. Dick Burleson was the team manager and Mickey Diamond was one of the racers. I also raced a Husqvarna 500CR the same year at 2 Nationals Gatorback and Red Bud.…… so you may guess the direction I will be headed with this build.

Yeah the Triumph wasn't so great but neither was my second bike. A1964 Honda CB160 twin. A street bike I took all the street stuff off and mounted the forks off the Triumph. Rode it for a couple years 1970/71.

I had made up a render of the 23 Husky before . And I thought it would be fun to make up a Gasgas and see how close it is to what hey make. I'll play around with the shroud tank area and airbox vents some more. But I saw this thread and figured it was a good place to post what I had made. Its a little rough and needs more fine tuning.

How about a 1955 Triumph Tiger Cub 200cc. I never raced it but it was my first dirt bike back in 1968. It was good for learning on but I was always working on it. Not such a great dirt bike but I was 12 and it was fun.
