Triumph took less than an hour to turn down my buy back request on my 25 450 RC

This thread makes me wonder how you acted towards the poor service writer who has no involvement besides making a case and saying they wont buy it back and you have to wait for parts. I feel bad for the dealer at this point.

Without all these posts on vital and Facebook I would have had a Triumph. Instead I bought 2027 SXF 450.

It turns out it was a vise decision, because of approximately 10 people around me, 8 have multiple problems. 2 has only had the 250 for 15h. 2 have ditched the bike where of one Triumph Pro rider.

It's a complete shit show, with multiple issues and they haven't fixed anything really. They just bandaid it.

It's also why there is no resell value on the bikes.

Thanks for proving my point. The internet rules. Random strangers make up your mind. You have ZERO idea if what you're reading is true or false or just posted by someone wanting to participate. You have no idea if the guy blew up his bike cause he never changed the oil or lost a drain plug etc. Crappy maintenance will kill a bike too in short order.

Funny thing is, in all the Magazine shootouts, and hundreds of combined hours that all those magazine bikes were put through, the only issue reported (that I saw) was the shifting. They even said if it wasn't for the shifting it would have rated up towards the top. Amazing they were not having all these reported issues.

Again. Kudos to Triumph for standing behind their bikes. I wouldn't want to fix some of these bikes either.

I'm sorry, but are you new to internet and Facebook?

The problem has been there since day one, and they aren't fixed yet. There is a reason why Triumph is ditching bikes, few wants them. A guy on vital, came up with one of the fixes for the transmisson at the same time all Triumph did was replaced baskets which is no fix.

You know Keefer had to bail on Loretta's right, because the bike didn't hold up?

I guess you are one of those how believe Jett wasn't hurt either 🤦😄

You mean people has made up horror stories about Triumph?

Just go to Facebook and check the posts, and then you have vital posts with picture, and then you have friends most likely. Every day pretty much someone posts on Triumph issues on Facebook, same things coming back. Transmission, leaking cylinders, total break downs, melting sprockets, electronic failures.

It's no end to it. And also then consider, Triumph has an insignificant market share. Still blowing up with people with issues.

Issues are fine, but come on, it's the third year with the same issue.

Don't have to make anything unfortunately.

I think that tells the story.

It's 30 years ago you listened to what a dealer or magazine had to say only. But hey, if you aren't interested in knowing the actual status. Keep the head buried.

Yeah, your right, why listen to a dealer or magazine, (real people doing real jobs on real bikes) when there is Facebook slop

It MUST be true if it's on Facebook , all those imaginary friends wouldn't tell lies , would they

i really want to buy a triumph street bike, but even the stories i hear on those are enough to deter me. and that model has been around in some form or fashion for 15 years. just poor parts availability and weird stuff that doesn't happen to japanese bikes really. im rooting for triumph as a brand, but they've gotta figure a few things.

Not to deviate too much from the original post, but I would not hesitate buying a Triumph street bike. I put 55k miles on a Street Triple with no issues outside a stator & regulator going bad. One of the bikes I wish I had back. Had trouble-free miles on a Daytona as well. Something about that triple engine... 😍

Well , I still want a triumph at some point.

The factory bikes have already won a British MX & enduro championship, and they are currently 1st & 2nd in the MX2 world championship, so Triumph CAN build a good factory bike, they just need to sort the hit or miss quality control of these early production bikes.

They aren’t factory bikes in the British champs they’re privately tuned by Evotech performance. The GP bikes are also privately built by Vince Bereni who is a madman. Triumph GP would not be 1&2 without that guy and the hours he’s put in.

Triumph don’t offer factory level parts to teams, it’s down to the team to develop them themselves or use a 3rd party like Evotech.

Facebook groups have more real world evidence and accounts of dirt bike mechanical issues than any official dirt bike publication. The sample size is dramatically bigger than just a couple bikes a magazine gets. So yes, going to FB for more insight into a dirt bike is a great idea. On the other end, you won't typically see someone with isn't having a problem posting on FB so it can skew it to a negative look.

Don't agree. Moto mags are made up of people that actually ride and are paid to put the bike through their paces and report back. That's why mfg's give them bikes. Social media sites are for the most part a joke. For entertainment purposes only. Too many clowns posing as experts. No thanks.

I believe MXA has been stating they would avoid Triumphs since the bike was introduced due to the transmission and various problems. I believe if you have been involved in the sport for more than a few years and have gone through a few scooters getting a "born bad" bike and being dissatisfied with the dealer and/or manufacturer kind of comes with the territory and is no real shock, it happens at times if not to you, a riding buddy or friend. Same bike/same dealer I had a friend who had serious problems with the bike and dealer just a few years ago, the issues were never resolved with very hard feelings. Bikes are somewhat complicated machines with a lot of potential issues used in trying conditions and dealers are people just like you and I, subject to moods and their own day to day issues, things can go sideways at times.

Man this was a roller coaster 😅 I've been in the powersports industry most of my adult life and only had a run in with a small handful of customers with this type of attitude the OP is showing.

I had a customer last year buy a new ATV and after a few hours of riding he noticed a small oil leak. He came in fired up saying "I want my money back!" "I want a new ATV". Our poor service guy tried calming him down reassuring him we'll take care of it but he didn't want to hear it.

It sucks. I feel for the customer. You drop good money on a new toy and something goes wrong shortly after. But losing your shit on people trying to help isn't the way to go about it.

Turns out it was a oil seal and oil pressure switch. Fixed within 4 days and covered under warranty. He came in and said "Where is this piece of shit" handed him his key and haven't seen him since. We definitely don't miss him.

Ah yes personalities and the human condition. For the better part of my moto life, 45 years, when you rode motos, things broke. You fixed them so they would survive or you sold the bike. It was part of the deal. No buy back expectations. No attitude with the dealer. Just part of the deal.

Never buy the first, second, or third try on a motocross bike.  There's way too many variables that could cause crazy injuries.  Let someone else be tester.  What if some of these failures happened on the face of a jump?  F that....

Yet again, another example of social media at work. That's not a 450. And pure speculation on how it broke. Yet here it is on this thread about a 25 450 RC.

Same experience here. Spent the majority of my career in service related positions. There's no pleasing some people, regardless of the outcome or what is said.

The buyback process I dealt with most recently from the OEM side was dictated by a couple things. Can we (the OEM) learn something about a potential failure mode or trend by getting this vehicle back in our control, the dealers relationship with their regional sales guy (or higher), and how much of an asshole the customer was. Most people that successfully negotiated a buyback had all three of those things working in their favor.

Yes,  but I've seen plenty of Triumph road bikes with issues over the years.  The 675 daytona has had more issues than the mv agusta 675 and that's saying something.

OP don't listen to the " you should've known crowd". Triumph has been in business for over 100 years. They are one of the most globally recognized motorcycle companies in history. They have a worldwide dealer and service network. And, they invested heavily in developing this bike and proving it at the highest level.

The idea that you should've known that they would make a bIke that couldn't last 10 hours and wouldn't support it is wrong.

Agreed.

I bought a 1st year model Triumph ADV bike.   I've beaten the hell out of it and the only issues I've had are due to me dropping it or casing it on a rock.

I would buy another in a heartbeat.
