Am I the only one that thinks the ghost riding thing is not that big of a deal?
I mean over the years we’ve seen, or heard of, many riders doing things like this when losing their temper. Kicking bikes over, breaking shit,…..there’s any number of similar examples.
Is it an incident that the team needs to address? Of course. Is it worthy of ten pages of outrage? That seems a little over dramatic to me.

It's about respecting the guys on your team.  You can go out back and throw your helmet if you have to. But never throw the bike.

Also, does anyone know what ghost riding his bike actually meant? Sounds like some people think he had the entire team lined up like bowling pins and aimed the bike 3rd gear at them. I imagine him stepping off as he went under the tent (not that it’s ok to do that either).

I’d rather my guy throw his helmet then ghost ride the bike into the damn pits lol you serious? Rango has to fix the bars, levers, and check on whatever else over him just grabbing a different helmet out of his bag, cmon now

Well, if the teams let’s that slide without consequences, it is on them for what they wind up with. Kind of behavior I expect out of a 5 year old, throwing a temper tantrum.

Kicking stuff, breaking minor items etc when angry is still poor behaviour and if an employee/contractor did that in my workplace they’d be fronting up for a please explain.

Ghost riding a bike into a pit area is escalating that to a different level and deserves an appropriately escalated response.  Worse still if it was done publicly and (reportedly) nearly hit other people.

Yes, it's completely unacceptable. There are very often young kids in the team pit areas. Not too mention everyone else hanging out there.

If Chase want's to throw his handbag and panties around he should do it in his motorhome...with his useless no-nothing dad...

Well, as of Sunday evening…we’ve got 108:2 for my “Chase, you’re fired!” ratio.

Not saying anyone part of Team Kawi would do it but I could see where  a rider acting like that could set themself up for some sort of retaliatory sabotage from a disrespected/disgruntled team member.  Then you have real safety issues.

If the workplace is that toxic then its time to go. It's just not going to get any better at this point.

Personally, you shouldn’t do either. But you can’t be serious and say it’s better because Rango has to change a pair of bars and levers as opposed to alpinestars having to replace a helmet. You think it’s ok to disrespect one and not the other?  Get lost with that. Go in your hauler a punch yourself else in the leg over destroying someone else’s work. As a person that sponsors many teams around the world with product, I would be pissed if I saw a rider do it to my product, idc if I just give him seat cover and graphics.

If the team decided to fine him, I doubt that we would hear anything about it.

And yes, we all agree that he’s a head case, but Kawi knows there is no replacement out there for his speed.  They are going to continue to try to work it out in my opinion.

They should fire him, but that is probably what he wants.

How the fuck do you have a meltdown about the bike after moto 1, then go out and get 4th in moto 2? What a head case.

I to have helped out riders with product and don't want to see it disrespected.  I worded it wrong,  Let me try again. "IF YOU MUST"....Go out back or somewhere private to have your little tantrum. Don't throw the bike!!

No one gets to this level by being a headcase. He’s not out there thinking about fishing.

His riding style bites him every single time.

Weak brains get weeded out in amateurs.

Bullshit you know how many professional athletes are head cases . It would shock you

It seems most likely, but how do we know it was about the bike?

Maybe he was just frustrated at crashing.

Didn't Hurricane Bob Hannah ride off into the woods after the "let broc Bye" finish?

Jett came along, the bar got raised and what was good enough to win before 2023 was no longer.

With the benefit of hindsight I reckon in 2022 Chase was riding at his sustainable limit which was good enough to push Eli all the way.  2023 comes along, he could barely show Jett a wheel, and starts pushing beyond his sustainable limit.

You could clearly see in ‘24 once Jett went out and Chase only had Hunter to deal with (who was in his rookie 450 year) he backs the pace off just enough to beat Hunter and barely put a foot wrong the second half of the season.

Now it’s compounded because not is Jett still there, Hunter has elevated his game, we’ve had a revitalised Eli (outside of injuries), Prado found his old self and Deegan has arrived on scene.  His sustainable limit is not good enough for 2nd anymore; it’s barely good enough to crack the top five.  Add in a questionable bike and a team that can’t seem to get out of its own way and the outcome is not good.

Excellent analysis!

Okay there’s too many replies to quote you all 😂

Do people think ghost riding the bike (remembering we don’t know the specifics of whether the bike was stepped off, or launched) is worse than kicking the bike off its stand? Which plenty of popular riders have done. As an ex-mechanic I don’t even like the disrespect of the bike when they deliberately destroy it doing burnouts after a win, but I do find the level of outrage in here a bit amusing considering we don’t know the details.

If there’s footage showing Sexton launching his bike at team members, okay fair enough.
However, it could have been as simple as stepping off the back of the bike and letting it fall over., which in that case I think kicking a bike off the stand is just as bad and this has all been dramatised.

Does anyone here really know?

Stewart rode the same way and was pretty particular about his front end feel, I doubt the feeling he's looking for "can't be obtained." It's not like this is the first time a rider has struggled to find the right set-up on any manufacturer, I remember Chad Reed bitching about every bike he switched to for years. I will say it's much more admirable when a guy can just put it to the back of their mind and bulldog through it like RV did, but not everyone is built like that.

Didn’t stew and chase have a falling out because stew was trying to give lessons learned and they weren’t well received by chase and his camp? My interpretation on what was reported at the time

He must have agreed to the terms and conditions of employment before he signed the contract. He is still an employee, and KTM, Honda, Kawasaki have all or are currently paying him a great deal of money to race and produce for them. But he took his ball and went home twice and now perhaps three times. He has a 3 year contract to fulfill and that means staying connected to his race team and working his ass off to make the bike better and produce and win races. This is why he was hired. He entered this agreement in good faith and he spoke clearly about wanting a long term deal and working with Kawi to win races. And he might well be the highest paid guy in the class! He ought to keep his focus on this singular thing. He has fallen the same way too often on every bike he has raced since he entered the 450 class. I mean...

Don’t some of these guys travel with a sports psychologist? Seems like that would be a good choice for Chase if he doesn’t have one.

Yaa you shouldn’t do either but yaa I’m way serious in throwing your helmet over a bike lol are you serious? You’re the step up champ Ronnie Renner right? It’s wayyyy better to swap the helmet and have media saying he threw a helmet in frustration over ghost riding a bike. Ghost riding a bike after a bad moto means “fuck this bike” to me. Throwing your helmet after the moto tells me you’re pissed about your moto and frustrated. No one will think twice and think alpinestars makes shit products because he threw a helmet. Him ghost riding his bike tells me he hates the bike and is over it. Very very different. If im Maxima and he launches my chain lube, I could give 2 shits, if I’m Kawi and he ghost rides my bike, I’m fining you’re ass. So get lost with that

I’ve always thought I’d be a Great Life Coach. First thing I’d tell Chase is Pull Your Head Out of Your Ass! After that we’d hug it out and he’d still finish 4th.

What we want to know is if the bike hit Garret or anyone else.

I also wonder if Gareet is sick of any drama from the #1 guy while they pay him pennies in comparison.

I would also like to see this Rango guy look Jorge Sexton dead in his eyes and say...."You....you want me to pick up the bike?... The stand is right their mee ho"

I don’t think it is a local weekend decision by Kawi team mgmt to discipline or fire Chase. They will have to run it up a few levels and write a press release. Same as with Prado; corporate has their control and game plan.

Same as with AMA. They will have to do something, even if toothless championship points.

Rango should’ve left his bike right where he ghost rode it and took it to the starting line for the next moto as is and only topped off with gas
