Been on Wellbutrin and lexapro for about a couple years and it has been a game changer for my mood stability and OCD racing/ intrusive thoughts and panic attacks. I tried it, and it did NOT agree with me. Increased anxiety, insomnia, paranoia, etc. Meds have never really affected me much, but the side effects were very real with that for me. Side effects ceased as soon as I stopped taking it. Wife also tried it, very similar story.

First off, its great to know there are people in the moto community especially men that are honest about anxiety. I just got off it after a few years. 1 it made my blood pressure noticably higher. 2. It made me feel like I had no emotions generally or just feel very “blah” all the time aside from daily anxiety 3. Per my doc Wellbutrin actually makes my anxiety worse. What Regis mentioned about breath work is taught in any therapy work related to anxiety...because it really does help. Highly suggest looking for some youtube vids on breath work and follow it. Another thought also relates to what Regis said about getting a better understanding of how anxiety works, great suggestion and a popular easy to read book on that is called "Dare". I have tried all of them over the past 20 years… I am currently weening off venlafaxine and am going to be completely ssri free hopefully by next spring. In my personal experience none of them have been a miracle pill for me. The “best” they have worked was venlafaxine 75mg. I actually felt better once I stopped. I didn't notice any negative side effects once I stopped. Sure I'm a little bit more grumpy, but I think it's normal for me. I took it for anxiety and it did help, but like I said I need to be a little anxious if I want to get something done.

I take it for ADHD and anxiety. It has helped me a ton when riding. I don’t get the random thought in my head that takes away from my focus when riding. I use to not eat before riding because my anxiety would be so out of wack that my appetite would just disappear, I haven’t had that problem since I started taking it.

I tried it and I don't think it worked for me. The simplest way to put it is it made me too mellow. I do construction work and I need to be a little amped up to get stuff done. Id try it and see if it works, it's not habit forming so it can't hurt to try.

Anxiety is great AND it sucks. I hit you with a DM but just know it can get better. It may take some time to find a medication that works for you to “take the edge off” but I highly recommend breathing techniques, acceptance and understanding what your body is doing also helps immensely. I also know that everyone that suffers from anxiety or panic attacks may read my post and think I could never say anxiety is great, but once I accepted it and understood it and didn’t fear it….. everything got better.

A very close friend of mine was prescribed it and said it did absolutely nothing for him. They upped his dosage and he still felt no change whatsoever so he stopped taking it. I think different people respond to things like that in different ways though, so you may have a completely different experience.

Pay close attention to weight gain. It’s a side effect of those medications.

I was prescribed it for ADHD....i just wanted some regular speed and they gave me that crap. It works but it's very mild in how it helps.
