9/13/2026 9:56pm I only have about 20 minutes on one. But I took it on a mix of tight MTB singletrack and wide open motocross style sections . And I was shocked at how light it feels in tight stuff. It did feel heavy putting it onto the stand. But riding wise it felt light. Its so strange that it feels so light while riding it. In the long term, I think that the ability to spread the cost out over a wider range of bikes for each part will be leveraged and result in costs being lower while also bringing margins...

9/13/2026 12:32pm Just had mine go off on me. Totally warranted, and frankly I would have dislocated my shoulder (again) without it. Tucked the front end in some mud on an inside line in a fast 180 turn and highsided hard. Was weird hearing the explosion as it went off, and it was deflating by the time I was back up and moving again. Crashed yesterday, again pretty hard, but at slower speed in the first turn. And didn't go off, nor should it have IMO. The $110 it just cost me is completely worth it so I can go to work...

9/12/2026 6:22am The wife wanted to see an old friend of hers who lives in the area, so I tagged along and went to the Honda museum at Twin Ring Motegi while they hung out. It’s a lot more car/road/MotoGP-centric than I’d prefer, but still a bad ass place with some really unique history. #3 is a replica of the first Elsinore that won an All Japan Motocross national. #8 is Graham Noyce’s ‘79 championship bike. #95 Rally bike won Dakar.

9/12/2026 6:22am Those 2 bikes were the last Japanese bikes to win MotoGP championships. They also had a few Yamahas from the 60s to highlight the rivalry between tue brands over the years. Wish they would have had some early YZs, too, but no such luck. @Last2Stroke, nope, those are the bikes I was really hoping to see today, though. Guess that just means I need to come back again…

9/12/2026 5:20am Based on race time Hsu is on average 9 s a lap behind Hertling. But he's also like 15 s a lap faster than his Chinese teammate so his wildcard is hugely useful to them.
Beagle Added a reply to Quiet down helmet with foam or tape or something?
9/12/2026 1:15am Been riding with earplugs forever (starting from screaming inline fours) but too many rock shows and festivals in my youth got me tinnitus anyway. As others have said, earplugs will shed so much more noise than any quieter helmet could (and for much less). In my experience foam earplugs (orange 3M for the win) are the best at attenuating sound...

9/12/2026 12:36am No matter which helmet you wear, earplugs are your best bet. However, if you're like me and can't stand to wear them while riding, you can modify your helmet with anything that will isolate your ears from vibrating air. Foam will break up the high-end vibrations and tape can help knock down the sound coming through the shell. (Be cautious not to compromise the workings of any MIPS or similar liner safety devices.) Oh, and: I've never noticed this part, but I'm not surprised that Arai helmets are lauded for being quiet. They have a much more solid feel than...

9/12/2026 12:34am Thanks but for me sound doesn't help. It might temporarily block out the ringing but doing that it will just make it come back worse in a silent room. I just need to avoid further hearing damage events and in about 3 years or so I'll realize I haven't noticed it at all in weeks. That's how it usually goes.

9/12/2026 12:34am I don't care how quiet the helmet is, I'm always wearing earplugs. I started it when I rode on the street and then started roadracing and I can't stand riding without them.

9/12/2026 12:33am I wear the same helmet, but I put ear plugs in no matter what. Even my super quiet Arai street helmet. The ear plugs eliminate turbulent wind noise but allow deeper tones like exhaust come through. Whooshing, whirring and whistling are all totally gone. Most of that comes from the vents.

9/12/2026 12:23am The Varg battery is not liquid cooled, the motor is. When commercial cells at 400 Wh/kg will be available (maybe 5 years from now), that will save 10 kg for a 7.2 kWh pack, so potentially the bike would be under 110 kg (240-ish lbs). At 500 Wh/kg that would shed another 4 kg in cells, closing most of the...

9/10/2026 9:31pm I don't really understand why people have such an adverse reaction to the idea of them (I mean I'm sure it's got absolutely nothing to do with politics or anything to do with 'masculinity') As others have said the idea of being able to do motos and no one else being bothered is a huge plus! Why does the future of our sport have to be either or? There's still 2 strokes after the 4 strokes took over

9/10/2026 8:57am Here in Europe it's pretty common for tracks to have a limited number of "noise days" during the year, plus strict windows in time during the day when they are allowed to run. Some of them now have extra practice days for electrics and extended hours. More opportunities to ride, more revenues for tracks. I don't know about any tracks...

9/10/2026 8:49am A better title for this thread would have been, "Is this the future of MX - for people who own a small amount of acreage?" Because, for those of us who do, that question is infinitely more compelling. It's about having new and better opportunities to ride, not fewer and worse. Electric might not be the future, but it has a future - because no noise. Simple.

9/10/2026 8:49am I think you are seriously understating electric bikes one true advantage & benefit. Noise Your kid can learn to ride in a backyard track, empty field, or even many MTB trails. Something we haven’t had since the 90’s. I see tracks on my local trails all the time. Nobody even knows they are riding. Incredibly important for the future of the sport in my opinion.

9/9/2026 2:48pm You're probably thinking about SBMC, Yamaha and Honda (founding members) as well as Kawasaki and Suzuki left it in early 2025. So now Piaggio remains the only OEM core member (KTM role is unclear, it was downgraded from core member a while ago, whatever that means). Also it is aimed at 50-125 cc equivalent (under 15 hp). Asian market for...

9/9/2026 12:07pm ZXmoto is killing it in world supersport (the category below world superbikes, used to be 600 and now it's mixed with 800). Valentin Debise is currently 2nd in the world championship with 6 wins in 18 races. Last year on a Ducati he was 5th. Edited to add a picture, just because
