Beagle Added a reply to Stark Varg Racing Debut

Stark marketing team must be happy with whatever it costs them to race WSX given the amount of coverage they get. WSX round 1 Calgary Elevation helped them since they're not affected by it, got every holeshot for the day except for one in SX1 and got to celebrate their first overall podium. In SX2 Hicks made a strong start...

Yup EMX125 title, contender since he was on 80s. A bunch of injuries once he turned pro but the talent has always been there. For Americans he may been relatively unknown, but to the rest of the world Brian Hsu is probably one of those names that evokes a “Oh yeah, that guy” type of response. Since getting his injuries sorted, Hsu has slowly been mounting a well-rounded comeback, quite literally on the world stage. He’s spent the last several seasons racing the Italian national series for a Honda team, competed in (and won) several rounds of the All-Japan National...

I appreciate the honest exchange 👍 Just ask yourself why so many national series and the FIM allow electrics to race ? And why did they chose to include them with gas bikes instead of starting electric series? A simple and practical explanation is that they may have assessed that the development of electric dirt bikes could be somewhat beneficial...

Yeah that's the thing, they are restricted on max power but I'm not convinced they'd go faster at full power in SX1. I think AMA let go of any pretense about why they're one of the only major national federations not letting them race. They'll open up when Yamaha, Honda are others are ready.
You are correct that no OEM has any interest in pouring millions to set up its own 2T factory team. In the examples given above where it's legal to race 250 2T against 250 4T there are simply few riders who chose to. Following the money sounds like a national federation gatekeeping hard to accommodate the current OEMs, waiting for...

What's so bad about the fact there might be another way to make fast bikes? In the comment you're quoting, I wrote that an electric series could make sense whenever other OEMs finally release their bikes. That's simply because no OEM is ready to invest millions in a single make series to compete against itself. If anything, I think than...

It's never been only about the rider, at pro level OEMs spend millions to prove to potential customers (and themselves, or their board at least) that their bike is the best. Of course they also compete to hire the best riders to win and to help develop the bike because the rider still matters a lot, which is the beauty...

It seems to me that we both think it's about balance, but disagree about where it lies. If you're allowing different bikes with different mods to compete against each other in a class, then it is practically impossible to make them equal, regardless of displacement. So in that case the proper thing to do would be to force each manufacturer to race in their own class on stock bikes, but that is impractical so it won't happen. My gripe is that if you create an electric class, you are essentially singling Stark out by forcing them to compete in their...

You can allow the 2-strokes to be whatever size you want in WSX and no one is going to choose them anyway.

Have You ever heard of the CR450 2 stroke, the CR480, and then CR500. Big bore 2 strokes have existed before and went away. Way back they used to have 125,250 and even 500's racing Supercross and the 250 class evolved to be the top class. Manufacturers want to race a bike that is similar to what they sell. Their racing budgets come mostly from the advertising budgets. Manufacturers don't want works bikes or we would have the exemption still. The general public has voted that the majority do not want to ride big bore 2 strokes, and in Supercross...

I do kinda find it funny when people lobby for 2 strokes to be allowed and have equal displacement as 4 strokes so they would gain an advantage., but that electrics should have their own class because its too big of an advantage.................. But right now they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I think that the average rider would be faster on an electric than a gas bike. But as skill level increases that gap closes. The ability to shift and keep the engine in the perfect RPM gets better and the electric motors advantage of not depending on...

Funny thing is that he has very little experience on the Varg, it's impressive that he could be competitive and race with Hicks straight away. Pro riders usually need a bit of time to adapt to race with it at their top level.

Hsu was a pretty big talent that came true the pipeline off Suzuki MXGP back in the day. Got the title in EMX 125 and did really good early 250 days and looked like he could be the next thing for Suzuki in the GPs. Sadly enough he got allot off injuries back to back and fell off the map. Showed up here and there and always got the raw speed after all those years. Hsu always got a good feel for Supercross to. Last few years did some solid results in SX races in Italy and Europe and got...

HSU won the EMX125 Championship. Fun fact: He claimed the title at Lommel in 2014. At the same event, Jett Lawrence won the 65cc title ahead of Jo Shimoda
