I think he's basically making money winning fair races and losing money racing a handful of 250SX races battling for the top15. Stark is his main money earner and they let him race his Yamaha wherever he can. No doubt he would be overjoyed if he was allowed to race his Varg in AMA SX. He's also a lot into...
Hold on, electrics are competitive and obviously they'll only get better, I agree. Stark won races in AX UK, France SX tour but they've just had their first WSX podium, they haven't even won a race at this level yet. I'd say their known riders like Friese or Hicks are more or less where they would finish on gas bikes...
250 2T are legal in WSX SX2 against 250 4T and electrics. I think nobody bothers because the teams and riders know 4T so well they don't think they'd get any advantage racing 2T. Agreed that a solution for AMA or others fearing mixed competition could be to open another class. Keep 250 4T class, 450 4T class and add...
I wouldn't mind seeing them make the 450 class just straight up open class. Everyone always says no one is using the true potential of a 450. Tomac is the only one asking for more power and yet, he still doesn't ride the bike like a 250, he gives it respect. Just make it open, let the manufacturers push their limits, let the electric in, let big bore 2 strokes in, and let the riders choose what suits them. I feel like the bikes today are limited more by traction than power anyways.

Its one race VS all the ones from last year. The great thing about the electrics is that they can fix that advantage for next time . They got 1 holeshot last year, and look at Vince's history of getting good starts in the past years on his Moto concepts bikes. He has been worse on the Varg for whatever reason. This slight oversight by race officials is likely already taken care of. The one that has turned everything 4 stroke is still firing people up and will continue. Fixing that will require millions of dollars in tooling and engineering...

You have said that You believe the 2 stroke at an equal CC would out perform a 4 stroke the same cc's. So You have already been for adjusting the power to be similar. That's what I was pointing out. Yah they reduce the power output on the varg. But thats doing the same thing as changing the amount of CC's a combustion bike can run. The software monitors the entire time the bike is on the track and they have DQed Vargs for spikes that were fractions of a second long , but were over the limit. Spikes that...

For electrics you don't even need a dyno since they must fit FIM-certified sensors and data loggers to independently and directly measure current and voltage, multiple times per second. The equation is very simple: current x voltage = power. For instance if current is 125 A and voltage is 360 V, FIM knows that at this very moment the motor...
Than keep 2 strokes separate too. If a 2 stroke has to be a different CC to be on a level playing field as a 4 stroke ,the electric can be tuned to a similar degree. Running separate classes will just kill off whatever bikes are less profitable. Unless You see a giant influx of money to support 30% more classes. If 4 strokes exist purely for shared components and to maximize profit. Electric puts that model on steroids. And before people start to cry about the aftermarkets dying off. Take a quick search for Suren aftermarket stuff. There are...

I have no suggestions but wanted to reply as my mum just got home on the 30th of July after nearly 3 months in hospital from a massive hemorrhagic stroke. She was usually on filming duty for race days and I always had bright gear/helmets as it’s what I liked and dad too. It was always easy to find me if I wasn’t at the back of the pack. It’s awesome that you are trying to make dad’s experience better/easier and I wish you and him all the best.

That's the market where the money is for two strokes.

I highly doubt the rules will allow it. Also, my friend at Kawasaki says the bike was specifically designed for offroad and vet riders, not for pro racing.

Allow me to introduce the gorgeous ZX6R. Introduced in 1995 as 599cc legal to race supersport. Then from 2003 to 2009 it got famously bumped to 636cc. It was a wonderful bike, over 130 hp for about 360 lbs. But the supersport rules did not change, it was not allowed to race. Therefore at the same time Kawasaki had to...

Spot on post and I agree with it. It is kind of funny how the story of Stark has transpired and how the view has changed in such a short window. It started out as a concept and so many said oh it will never compete at the top level, it will be just like the Alta. Then now it is people complaining because they have too much advantage and it is not fair. Wild ride it has been.

I hugely admire the way Stark have built a fully competitive bike with disruptive technology, built a complete new brand, are selling boatloads, competing successfully at the highest level AND are making solid profit. Only those who have been involved in new tech start ups know how difficult that is. But what I admire even more is the way they never whine about the restrictions and obstacles put in their way by those with vested interests. They just plug away, steadily refining the product, working with the organisers and race Federations to get their bikes approved, putting decent (but not...

Except the price of the Bonnell MTB….ouch…for an MTB. Spend 2K more and get the 805. That’s the play!!
