When did his contract with Yamaha end? Or, to the real question, when could he have started riding his new brand?

A legendary era, I will always remember the yamaha era, and it most likely will always be my favorite. I am a newer fan to the sport, didn’t get to witness the geico or kawi era’s. Didn’t have crying for 5 minutes after waking up watching this video on my bingo card today. I still can’t imagine him on the ktm because I still never thought he’d be on an orange bike with redbull on his helmet, but i’ll get used to it at some point hopefully.

You must be a female lol. Welcome to one of the greatest and most underrated sports on Earth.

Thanks Yamaha & Eli for the memories: good times, vibes, entertainment, and beastmode rides!

How did you know? Thanks for the welcome, I love this sport so much, i’m more invested in it than I was baseball. I’ll be forever grateful for moto and for the deegans channel introducing me to moto.

His contract ends now. He probably started riding the ktm right after MXoN. Which technically provably isn’t allowed but as long as he doesn’t post about it/ ride in public Yamaha won’t care.

I just think the Yamaha felt like an extension of Eli Tomac in a way that not many other athletes seem to be able to replicate with their own machines. Cooper Webb rides a Yamaha.. but it has never felt or looked the same. Under Eli, It was just aggression personified. If there was ever a bike built for one specific rider, it feels like it was a Yamaha for Eli Tomac.

The end of an era.

I thought Eli looked good after the switch, but the last couple seasons have not looked good. He looked to me like he was really fighting that bike outdoors.

Yeah bro experiencing emotion is for females bro 😎 Round here we are men and we only experience criticizing others and stuff!

Eli on blue was iconic.  Hard to picture him on anything else but I’m sure in a year it’ll feel normal and dude will be ripping per usual

Agree on outdoors post-2022, but indoors this year before the injury he looked incredible. Starts weren't great but the speed was there!

The post I've been dreading..... Huge Yamaha and Eli fan so the two together were a dream come true. Really, really bummed even though we all knew it was coming. Curious to see how SX goes on the pumpkin, but I expect outdoors to be unreal!

Rather see him on a Beta or Ducati.   He would really help develop those bikes, and bring even more fans to the sport of MX.

He was quite the stud on a 250 Honda too. Tomac has an exciting style, thats a lot of fun to watch - Anderson use to be that guy, I hope he can bring it back with his new Suzuki ride.

I think his opening A1 ride on Yamaha helped cement that he gelled with it. Got the lead, crashed out of lead, passed back into lead. Then his whole 22 season was magic.

Edit: I had my years backwards and thought he won A1 22, I was thinking of 2023.

Honestly I just think that the pace is higher than ever outdoors with Jett and Hunter now and that Eli is just as fast as he was in 2017-19 and 2022 (maybe he had a little more raw speed back then, but his starts on the KX wouldn't have helped him at all lol).

But ever since he has been on the Yami Tomac looked unreal in SX (I still think 2023 A1 is the best Tomac we have ever seen in SX, followed by San Diego this year). Obviously he should have won 2023 aswell and without the injury and I also think he would have been the closest guy to Jett in 2024. He even looked like he had an slight edge over everyone speed wise this year, but sadly some incidents and then another injury..

Just excited to see him out there still honestly and I don't really care what bike he's on as long as we get to see more of Tomac. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a contender again in SX and gets some wins outdoors.

That was A1 2023 though, he had a slower start to the season in 2022 but after a couple rounds he was the guy to beat.

Aw you're worried about me? So thoughtful...I'm fine. Its just a bike that I'm not riding. Its not a big deal to me. I'd rather see him on a Triumph at this point. But this has been the 3rd worst kept secret after (1) Sexton to Redbull, (2) Sexton to Kawi

Was it? I swore it was 22.

Edit. Nope, Kenny won 22. My memory must be failing 🤷

Quite the back pedal considering how adamant you were in every thread since the news broke earlier this year that he wouldn’t be leaving Yamaha.

Bikes are bikes for these guys, not like us who get wrapped up by color or our first bike etc....

All the top riders look great on almost any factory bike...(not counting PradoSmile
