Haiden Deegan on the 450 in Supercross next year?

10/24/2025 5:58am

Deegan is racing 250SX and 450MX for 2026.  This was announced a long time back and has not changed.

Im shocked at the people thinking 250 SX is a guaranteed championship for him.

By the way.. I’m not saying Deegan isn’t the title favourite or not the fastest. He has won these titles for a reason and the fastest 250 rider in the class.
I would agree Deegan should win the title, and any one would be silly to bet against him.

But we seen a bit more aggression from the enemies he made towards the end. Add in few riders showed they could match his speed some nights. I think Deegan will have a bigger target on his back more than ever, which makes this 250 SX season probably the most challenging yet with the most pressure.

And with Jetts 250 season being mentioned on page 1 of this thread. I don’t think Deegan will learn from this season the positives of avoiding drama like Jett did when he lost his title to Colt.

He has more to gain and less to lose if he moves to the 450 class.

Again.. personal opinion haha

Side note.. if he did move up, how many 250 champions would be lining up in 450sx? What is the record for the most 250 champions on the gate at once? Haha

He will be on a 450 at A1. Centre of the SX universe, new fox deal under the bright lights. Will do the first 3, if he’s doing well they stay the course while still calling it a “learning year” if it doesn’t go well, he goes east and cleans house in the 250 class- takes the pressure off for outdoor debut because he was busy winning the 250 title.

Can’t say I agree with most of what he says off the bike and the Shimoda SMX episode was a disgrace, but who can say they genuinely don’t like watching the show?

My thoughts as well.

Believe the hype all over again

A1 will sell out with 10’s of thousands of little Deeganites

They’ll be more fights in the stands than on the track, maybe a few titties fly too

I’m here for it

See you there…

If he wins another 250 Supercross championship vital will still say it was underwhelming and no big deal. He could win every main event and it still wouldn’t be good enough for the majority here..

There will never be more fights in the stands then the old Camel SX in the Rose Bowl and LA Colosseum days for the late 80’s and early 90’s.  As a kid I can remember looking out and seeing fights all over at every event. Good times.

"guaranteed" is probably too strong of a word there.  But I can't imagine anyone that doesn't consider him the favorite to win this 250 SX title.  Barring injury or wild DNF's...  Who is there that will score more points?

With the news today, I suspect we'll have to see how WSX goes to find out if he's on a 450 at A1.

On one hand... he could use this year as his rookie 450 sx year to learn and adapt... and just get it out of the way... his smack talk won't work in 450s, nor will his aggressive riding, but he'll have plenty of material for instabangers....

On the other... he's not as good at sx as mx, and he'll b going up against a future goat in jett... and..  he's coming off a complete meltdown in smx... so imo... better to grab one more 250 sx title, cause it might be his last title of any kind...

His aggressive style has worked wonders for eli, i’d say he’s fine, He’s not a friese, I can count on one hand how many people he’s taken out, yeah it may be a bad look, but he’s no barcia or friese. I think he will use WSX to fine tune his sx skills and advance them.

Eli has way more flow on a sx track than Haiden. Especially when Eli was on a 250, pre double shoulder surgery

Hes by far the fastest 250 SX rider ,obviously things happen that prevents the fastest guy from winning the title.

I don't know about that. Cole Davies lost the title because he had some disaster races, which you'd expect since he was a rookie. Also, we don't know how Shimoda would have played out since he busted up his hand at round 2. Deegan won the title on consistency, but I wouldn't count on Davies or Shimoda to have the same issues in 2026.

No for sure? Thats laughable, unless you have a crystal Ball! When it comes to the Deegans anything is possible. Why because JT said? Lol

He’s one of the fastest racers ever so it won’t be surprising when he is causing trouble for the other contenders

Interview with Daniel Blair.

“Yeah, I feel like this was a good chance to get experience,” Deegan said. “I mean, if I'm going to race 450 next year at outdoors, and I feel like it's just time to get on the bike and get experience with that stuff. And definitely, I mean, in the future, the 450 supercross, if I could get a little head start, doing these races that don't lead to an AMA championship, I feel like it's something positive. And it was a good idea on my part.”

He’s mistake prone in SX, not the greatest in the whoops, and his starts are inconsistent (I’m paraphrasing here what JT said on the Pulp Show this week).

Aside from that one his greatest assets in the last two years has been a field of 250 competitors that can barely string two good motos or main events together.

Unfortunately when you behave like a dick enough times people stop focusing on the results and only focus on the behaviour.

The Deegan’s have painted themselves into a corner with their approach - what will become of the Deegan train if he never wins a 450 title or at least never wins one until Jett retires?

He should go 450. A 4th year in 250s is a waste. I said the same thing about Jett in 23. Move up and go do battle with the best.

Why is everyone making a big deal about him on a 450? Cooper Webb raced a 450 at monster cup n the old bercy before he ever raced a ama Sx on a 250

450SX - more the merrier.

I like his approach to this - looking forward to the SX for the first time in a long time.

Deegan is gona Deegan. But I agree he should not waste time in the 250 class, just send it in the real deal class. It’s gona take a couple years and he will make lots of enemies but the kid might figure it out

Deegan is racing 250SX and 450MX for 2026.  This was announced a long time back and has not changed.

Now he has a passport, will he race the MXoN?

he might do more than figure it out.

imo they should let him line up on a 450 at A1 if WSX goes well. I just worry about him getting hurt.

A waste for you maybe, but for him it is a LOT of money to walk away from, a possible title (more money) and even more SX racing time and experience.

Then he can race a few of the opposite coast races on a 450, but not all, including Daytona to get ready for '27 and outdoors.

Deegan to Lewis Phillips:

Uh, I don’t know, I don’t know. We got some time to think about that one. But as of now, it’s 250.”
