Some were more disappointed and pissed than others 😂
So many cry babies in this thread. Track sucked, glad I only had to watch 40 minutes of racing when I got home last night. On to the next one!
Cmon man. A1 2005, Spring Creek 2007, Daytona 2008, San Diego 2019, NJ 2023, Foxborough 2025. Lightning is one thing, but racing in the rain is nothing new in the sport.
Track looked like an absolute mess after the rain. Top 450 guys not wanting to ride it says a lot.

The track looked sketch dry. Can’t imagine trying to race on that sloppy wet mess.
I have a feeling Steve's Sunday is going to be worse than his Saturday, if that's possible.
Racers don't wanna race, promoters don't wanna finish the races... ain't nobody gaf about smx... why does this bullchit even exist????
I've said the same previous years. It's INSANE that they race at that venue with those concrete walls. I do not understand how the riders and teams are ok with it.
Just to ruin your life
I couldn't agree more. What a bullshit venue to even consider building a track on in the first place.
Any update on Marchbanks yet?
Only thing I've seen
Bummer, thank you for the update
They installed a dirt moto track on a solid cement surface with minimal drainage at the very edges. What did these suits think was going to happen if the skies opened? What horrible planning and vision for a dirt racing venue. What wrong with adding a supercross area to an outdoor MX track?
I guess you can put me in the "shrink the sport but grow the racing" camp.
For the hundredth time, it wasn't canceled due to rain or muddy conditions.
Budds Creek would work for something like that . Jlaw already combined the 2 tracks onetime.
It seems like the facilities of stadiums or in this case a dragstrip bring more fans than the outdoor style tracks do. I wonder what the official reason is. Or maybe they will do it in the future? Could lighting be an issue? Wanting to run later in the day instead of day races ? And the sun setting much earlier during the SMX season than the Nationals.
Sucks that it was canceled. It seems like most people are picking a reason out of the list of reasons ML was given and reported. It was because of all of those reasons he listed combined . Perhaps if any one or more of the reasons listed were not a problem they may have still run the second motos. But it was just too much to overcome in the amount of time they had to do it. And riders and teams did not want to race the modified track in those conditions. Again perhaps if all of the reasons the riders and teams did not want to run the race, perhaps they too would have also wanted to still run it. But all of those things were problems and sometimes shit just happens.
What if they got the track ready and the big teams and top racers had all gotten together and agreed not to ride. Do they drop the gate with 5 privateers? Back years ago a local track had a problem that resulted in almost all of the Pro riders saying they would not line up to race. The track did not give in and ran the motos anyway. They gave 2 guys , 2 full 20+ 2 motos. Imagine the second moto's looking like that? How would that get the sport taken more seriously?
I hate that they canceled , but they listened to the riders and teams who expressed concern . To people that are saying they would have had enough light, or time, or that the track wasn't that bad, that they could have still ridden it ,etc. The people who had to do the work said they did not, and what sounds like a majority of the racers also agreed that they did not want to ride a modified version of the track in poor light.
This guy is delusional. “Let’s just run Tuesday my boyfriends off work and I spent my $9 for peacock.” Get a grip bud.
I hope a lot of fans decide they don’t wanna go then we’ll see the riders complain when they don’t get any money. I think the real reason was they are having a drag race there in 2 weeks and if they ran the races it would have been a bigger mess to clean up. Either way fans got screwed. I’ll not go to a race there again.
Pit Row
Imagine wanting to meet up with someone to fight because you only got to watch one hour of dirt bikes on Saturday instead of two, lol
Our society undone by clowns who wouldn’t make eye contact with you in real life.
Why would they have waited so long to call the race if that was the case? They could have done that right away. It may have factored in,and if it did there were still all of those other reasons and it was just one more.
I personally think the riders SHOULD stand up and say something if they feel like the track is unsafe or conditions make it unsafe.
But there You go, picking the single issue You have a problem with out of the list again. It was ALL of the reasons combined, and perhaps others too.
If Your bike is missing its tires , piston ,seat , chain, number plates , front fender and clutch lever . Perhaps You could ride if it was just one or 2 of those things. But all of them together might just add up to being too much to overcome in constraints You have. It wasn't just a single reason, it was all of them together that made the people in charge decide to cancel.
I've driven 4 hours to a local race only to turn around and go home a few hours or the next morning later. It sucks, but it is something that people know may happen.
All the guys with fast cars should go back and rent the track out in a few weeks and do backside no prep. 100% payout 5k entry fee. See who the real king of Charlotte is.
Yeah, but we’re all about SAFETY! Riders have a better chance getting hurt hitting one of those barriers as getting struck by lightning. 🤦🏼♂️
You're stuck here, now we're stuck with you. Anything we can do to help get you unstuck, and the hell out of Wisconsin?
Regardless of how and why the decision was made, I believe it was the right call, if only for the safety of the riders.
That track was fucked.
You're not wrong.
I have to say reading comments from "fans" like you makes that task quite difficult.
Thanks ML for the explanations (See Steve, I'm licking the powers that be's ass).
"Come body surf beach break at Salt Creek" might be the funniest flex/argument I have read in my 15 years on this site.....Absolutely phenomenal reading on my Monday morning.
Shouldn't they know it is possible it might rain, even before the event, perhaps make preparations? I don't know, for a premier event this could have been handled better, and again thanks ML for the explanations.
How do you prepare for lightning?
