Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
Nope. Okay, here's business lesson 101 for you.
Adam Bailey and the other WSX honchos were openly working the pits amongst the teams at Anaheim in order to gage the team's and rider's interest in a possible WSX series.
It didn't take a Rocket Surgeon for the US promoters to figure out there was an emerging threat.
Okay chief, thanks for the lesson, not sure what you taught but I appreciate it.
Here is an instruction video to help you out….

Couldn’t agree more with having it under the lights.
1. I ride on the weekends so I’d love to be able to watch it live after riding.
2. No heat
3. Like you said, it’s more epic under the lights.

People kept clamoring to make MX more like NASCAR, be careful what you wish for.
Too many riders sit out the Out Doors as the emphasis is no longer on that series. To me, the field is thin for the out doors. Less competition on the track and thus, less actual racing. Just my opinion
WSX has a poorly chosen name (Women's Supercross?) and only has around 3 rounds. Nobody seems to mention Tomac's WSX championship when talking about his accomplishments. It just isn't the same accomplishment as enduring a long MXGP, SX, or AMA outdoor season. SMX has a lot of similarities, although the level of competition is much higher. Both are an invitation only 3 race series.
The points and reward system needs revising.
Its a playoff for LCQers. Not anyone of the top seeds.
The triple points in the final round is ridiculous. Makes the previous two races almost irrelevant.
There also needs to be some form of reward for making top 3 or whatever leading into the playoffs. I think Jcoop and Malcom finished 1st and 3rd in total points and were the only two riders to make every SX and MX race? And they get nothing for it?
Damn fine job reading between the lines there McG, Damn fine !
Just call it the Finals. Its not a playoff. Please and thanks.
My gripes...
- As some other posters have said, "playoffs" is inaccurate branding that suggests some type of tournament elimination that doesn't even apply. Just call it "Finals" or "Final Championship Series"/"FCS".
- I don't believe 3 races is enough to ever evolve into a legitimate championship (6 is probably the bare minimum). The powers that be should replace a few of the SX rounds with SMX. This would also have the added benefit of evening out the balance between MX & SX rounds.
- The points are too slanted towards MX (22 races versus 17). They should even up the number of rounds for SX & MX, then award SMX points by overall finish in MX (MX championship points could still be accrued per moto as it is now).
- I get what they are trying to do with the graduating points, but it's going to blow up in their faces at some point when the SMX champion ends up being a rider who wasn't in contention in either MX or SX (see Jordon Smith nearly doing this in the inaugural season).
- I agree with Lewis that there should not be LCQs for the SMX championship. You are top 20 in "regular season" or you are out. The AMA can call up alternates as needed if attrition is an issue.
- The lighting at most of the venues (so far) is not well suited to night racing (for dirt bikes, anyway).
Burnout for the teams but the promoter does not care. How long is the football or soccer season?
If the series is to stick around...
-Find a better name
-Take 2-3 rounds off the SX schedule. 14 SX, 11 MX, 3 SMX. Something like that. I also like the idea of matching up indoor/outdoor rounds, but it will NEVER happen. Make each main of SX Triple crowns count toward SMX to help even it up.
-Have one of the SMX rounds on an actual outdoor track. Spice it up a bit if you want, but let's go somewhere with elevation!
-Do something better with the points system. I get it, it has to be interesting, but there's gotta be a better way
This place complains about everything and for the most part it’s always the usual cast of characters complaining..
Too many races, not enough races, I don’t like the name, 250 sx not a legit title, every commentator sucks, ticket prices too high, no bottled water, tracks too dry, track too wet, ripped too deep, not ripped deep enough..blah..blah..find a better name (no suggestion, just better), do something different with the points (again no suggestion, just do it different)…
I definitely don't hate them, I just think the series is trying a bit too hard to make them something they're not. A 3-race series isn't a legit championship, but it is a phenomenal payday for the majority of the field. My suggestion is to treat it like a MEC series with the winner running the #1 in next year's series, but no reason to pump it up with the blue and gold number plates that need to be explained to new viewers every week at the beginning of SX season.
Why not just promote the last round of sx and mx better, then give the cash to the privateers
Agreed. The last three need some work, but its badass how much attention is has brought the outdoors
PGA got rid of the strokes to start the tournament. Everyone started even par.
I did an experiment and Hunter would have won by one point last year if standard scoring was used. 25 points for win.
Not sure what you are saying about starting points. I think what you laid out is what they do.
Honestly wish they’d get rid of smx. I think it’s been a total fail, as others have said it devalues the races and series we’ve already had. There’s so many races now it barely matters if you miss one. Riders are all hurt by the time it’s done and most of the ones that are left ride well within their limits so they can at least get some of the money. I’ll watch if there’s nothing going on but when outdoors ends real racing is over imo, mxon is the only race I wanna see before A1.
Pit Row
Dude, you must have way too much time on your hands.
Go outside and holler at the clouds.
Lets make 'Football' more interesting, where you get more points for a touchdown in the last quarter , than if you score in the first.
You see how fucking dumb that sounds?
Any sport that cant just have a regular season and declare a winner is doing it wrong.
NASCAR is done, whats the point of 33 races , when most of them are irrelevant?
Losing the 12th national is the worst part for me
Two reasons:
1) The money wouldn't exist without the playoffs; NBC wanted them and is paying for them.
2) Nobody cares about privateers. Most of us love that guys like Mitchell Harrison are chasing their dream and getting solid results but the reality is how many tickets do you think he sold this year? Sure, I'd love to see those guys make a bit more money, but all professional sports are star driven.
Mix the 250 and 450 classes, top 11 points scoring riders from each class racing together, lets see who is all talk.
After reading through all the comments and then back to your original comment, I have one thing to say...
Go Pack Go!
"Lets make 'Football' more interesting, where you get more points for a touchdown in the last quarter , than if you score in the first."
You argue against yourself in this post.
Touchdowns are always worth 6 points but the game 8 of the regular season sure doesn't mean as much as the Superbowl.
"Any sport that cant just have a regular season and declare a winner is doing it wrong."
Does that mean my Detroit Lions are NFL Champs of 2024?
Good luck this season, hope the fans don't turn on them for starting 0-1 😉
If it is going to be a gimmick championship, 1st race MX, 2nd race Sx, 3rd race super moto at night in Vegas somewhere on the strip.
😂 This place has nothing to complain about compared to the tracks drag racers!
I like the playoffs, just because of the extra entertainment.
But I think the issue is that in motocross, we are used to a championship being a 10+ race series based on attrition, success and consistency. It's just a different mindset for us to get used to a championship being based on 3 races (plus seeding points).
The greed isn't just an SMX problem. I was debating whether to go to Anaheim this year, but the ticket prices just seemed too high to be worth it, so I stayed home.
