If I buy my wife a Pontoon boat that will never get used I can probably sneak a 250 Desmo in the garage this fall when they come out.  I guess the 250 comes out this fall.  On a serious note only way I need to see what the 250 is like.  I’m not a high RPM guy, I’m old/slow and need good bottom end.  But dang those Desmo’s are wicked looking bikes!

IMO… the fact that a Manufacturer can bring a brand new unproven motorcycle to a MX national and run up towards the front of the pack says a lot about the bike. Very impressive. But Cairoli , what a frigg’n Stud he is! Amazing rider. I wish he’d come and run our series full time.

Yeah he is a Stud.  You know his 1st ride was on a cr125 a 02 or 3. He was too small for the bike & struggled.  Very determined rider to make it.  He should hit Dyracuse in Wi. rapids deep sand hilly track with hills ,  4 acre sand bowl, 700+ acres of Awesome trails , a easy sx track . Probably the best sand riding park in America. 10 bucks on wed other days 20 bucks. You can also rent the track .  Nice little lake near by to hit the state is full of lakes , clean rivers to to go rafting. A lot of rain lately so the sand tracks should be good. They hv a ama hill climb   The property has hills. Noah,s nightmare track is in the area to . It’s a private track he invites pro riders to prep for Millville, it’s a sand track of course.  Wi. Dells is close Americas Largest water parks , it’s a blast .  Wheeler is another deep sand track

In case no one has thought about it their 250 will be 1/4 of a Ducati Dsemosedechi GP 25 moto GP bike. The most bad ass bike of all time.

Good point, I do remember seeing 250s holeshot mxdn races though, we all have. How much power do you really need…

Good question, really makes you wonder what exactly is the difference between starters like jett/alessi and larocco/tomac?

Ummmmm That was an impressive ride for a 20 year old, forget the fact he is 40! You could tell the suspension wasn't as high end as the guys he was racing against and he was still running the pace. Damn impressive debut, Bravo Tony!

It looked way better than Hampshire's bike, to me. RJ's forks looked incredibly stiff for an outdoor setup.

I was thinking the exact same thing about RJ's forks.. the bike seemed jittery, and it seemed to be his forks causing it, but it was also obvious that his Rockstar Energy Husky engine was making plenty of power.

there was an ig clip of him blowing into the vent tube. the bike would start right up, sounded fine, but would die immediately.

AC being competitive this weekend on a near stock bike was great to witness. Yes, there is a performance decline in your 30's. Looking around at the longevity of athletes in other sports and the advancement of recovery, it was only a matter of time before people in our sport started testing those waters. While not a threat to win MX, Top 10 is clearly obtainable and perhaps Top 5 on occasion. I'm very curious what the retired pros think of this.

Dungey did pretty damn awesome a few years back.  I believe he would still be a consistent 4-5-6 rider.
Wishful thinking and he is enjoying his family.

I think Cairolli is almost 40.  Thats actually still young coming from a guy in his 50’s.

I would imagine a 8-12 veteran racer would be great for the likes of Triumph and Ducati.

And Beta, Im sort of liking those bikes.

I was honestly shocked at how well he did.  I was talking to some buddies last week and I thought top 20 was realistic with how stacked it is and being on a fairly stock bike.  Top 10 is downright incredible.

Fair assessment with his age, but he is a 9 time world champion. Dude knows how to get the most out of bad days when his bike isn’t working well and his old butt is tired! 🤣

I'm impressed that he's trying to figure out the problem.

It's always an electrical issue. We all somehow collectively throw our hands up in the air when that's the reason and go, "Oh! Well, there's nothing you can do, then..."

It's always an electrical problem. They just aren't always forthcoming with the reasons in addition to the electrical problem:
Spark plug fouls because the fuel mixture is off - electrical problem
Air filter catches fire - electrical problem
Fuel boils and bike vapor-locks - electrical problem
Con rod breaks and the piston exits the cylinder head, cleanly lopping the CDI off the frame? Now THAT'S an electrical problem!

All told, I think the Ducati racing debut was a success. In addition, Cairoli is a stud!

Dude is a legend. How great is it that he is shaking down a new manufacturers bike and doing so in the USA.  Id be stoked if he even made the field for a national let alone run top 12.
And what a genuine guy.  He has no expectations of where he ends up but you know he will give it his all.
And yet at 40.  He is still a young man.
What slowed me down was when my eyes started going.  I was reacting to where I was heading instead of looking ahead. And I rode half the speed that he is riding.  Fastest my bike went was in the box of my pickup going down the road. 🤣😜🤷🏻‍♂️😎

I think that bike is gorgeous but I'd throw a black frame in there

(I mucked around with my VERY rudimentary photoshop skills and didn't really know where else to put this haha)

Seeing Caroli race some Nationals a couple years ago, (he kinda started the scoop tire necessity here) and now Red Bud, I can't help but be a fan. Wish I could've seen him on a more regular basis. I have watched him race years ago in the GP's but wow, he has bikes skills galore. Guy can still rip!

Either he’s fitter than Prado or he just tries harder.  In the first moto when his bike ran the whole time, Prado’s fastest time was nearly 3 seconds a lap faster than Cairoli’s, but Cairoli was faster than Prado the last 6 laps of the race.  Cairoli’s fastest lap of the Moto was on lap 7.  Not bad for a guy who’s pushing 40!

It’s easy to get behind a rider that loves his sport so much. Valentino Rossi comes to mind as a good comparison for Cairoli.

As much as he impresses me, it also put a light on some of the factory riders lack of performance. A retired soon to be 40 year old rider that has not raced full time for many years should NOT be able to beat a current factory rider that train every day, is younger and has a fresh racing memory in his body. But that is on them..

Yeah, but…

Its Tony Cairoli

And

Those guys have been through the 2025 supercross meat grinder.

For sure and it will be even stranger to see Eli in a Red Bull hat !

If that is a production bike I love how it has machined Hubs!

Are KTM hubs "machined?"

Google Ai, and Vital.mx December 18, 2017, states that they are...

I fully admit to being wrong as a human can be.  When Tony first came on the scene I thought he was a buck toothed, arrogant prick...and I showed my ass by saying as much on this forum.

I cant apologize enough.  I have the utmost respect for his accomplishments and to the man he has become.  Legend.
