There's a real person named Chas? Imagine the 80's movie douchey boyfriend villain stereotype they had to overcome in order to make VP. Well done, Chas, well done.

Say it's not so. Tariffs can't cause this right.

Chas is only half the 80s movie douchebag magic.

'Caraway'?

As in -- Chas don't give a shit?

Magical name. I'm genuinely jealous.

The dollar is still at historic highs vs the Yen.  Make it make sense.

listened to a podcast with Deegans mechanic on Gypsy Tales a few months ago where he said some Yamaha higher ups essentially told him “you’d better vote the right way if you want to keep your job”

Kinda funny in hindsight.

I've been saying, If your on the fence about getting a bike and the one you want is sitting there, you better grab it now. The Monster 250F will probably be going to my house shortly.

Thanks Trump

America needs a true conservative like the Bushes, or Regan.

I try to keep up on the tariff situation.  From what I know, right now there is not a specific tariff on Japanese motorcycles.  They have been throwing numbers around but nothing has been set.  I think all of the mfgs are just preparing in case it drops.  That is probably why the amounts are not specified so they can adjust as needed.

No corporation is going to take away the chance to inflate prices due to something as complicated as tariffs.  If they don’t name it directly and leave it to assumption, very few consumers will understand how or why these prices go up.  At the very least all of these tariffs created space for corporations, who will do anything to increase profit, a chance to raise prices.

Whether or not the tariffs cause the price increase directly, the ramifications of creating tons of confusion and grey area has and will effect what we pay for goods.

Yamaha has been raising prices nearly every year…2017 450 was $8699 to $9,999 in 2024. I missed the letters each year.

As was told to me in my 20’s by an older co worker . You make your own deals. If you don’t like your deal go find another one. Don’t wine like a b**ch if your not being paid enough.

If your salary isn’t going up, that’s is 100% on you..

The biggest mistake you can make is thinking your vote fixes anything.

I heard we were ending wars not starting them,  and today looks a little different.

Oil prices are up already today.

Fiat currencies are racing to the bottom. Some are sinking faster than others. Then there is sound money. Gold in 2017 was in the 1200$ range and now 3400$.

I agree to an extent. Massive grain mill in the area has thousands of jobs, and had probably 5 or so different mechanical contractor companies who had a fairly permanent hold on lots of jobs there. They had an agreement between them on what they would cap their wages at and what benefits they would offer, and got the parent company of the mill to agree to a rule that if you quit one contractor, you would not be allowed back on premises working for a different contractor for 90 days, so they could stop people from seeking out pay raises by switching companies so they could keep wages down. I got out of that area and have a much better job now, but EVERYONE can't do that.

Vintage racing finally woke up and added modern classes with age groups and different 125 classes.  I see the 90,s to 07 Honda prices went up .  I hv no problems getting a bike that sat 20 yrs apart . But new yz,s snap or strip out bolts.  Not sure if it’s new yz,s but it’s new bikes that leak nitrogen from the shock.  Little secret the pro,s that get paid to ride quite a few hv 02 cr250,s.  IMG 3537

Nope you’re wrong. Yamahas were actually going to decrease in price this year by $2,000. But now TRUMP is in office they have to increase prices. Stupid Trump.

They will do anything to not lose profit.  Tariffs aren't giving them an opportunity to make more profit under some false pretense.  It's giving them the unfortunate option of losing more money if they don't make changes, as a direct result of tariffs. Sounded like you were defending tariffs so apologies if that isn't the case.

This is increasing the price of current models. That’s a lot different than a new generation coming out with a higher sticker price than the previous gen.
