Here’s my theory, for what it’s worth. I think Jett can still do Jett things, but he struggles to consistently go as fast as he wants to go due to his ankle changing how he has to ride. Meanwhile Hunter has grown into his potential and is a true threat to win every time he’s on the gate. Jett knows that with Hunter, protecting a small lead is no longer good enough, because big bro is always stronger towards the end of the race. Regardless of what’s happened in his later years of racing, he still had one hell of a career, and he should be able to hold his head up high. I didn’t know he was struggling with his arm the last few years like he was, which makes it even more impressive/crazy that he was still out there. That shows his heart, grit, and determination right there, the kid never gave up. Hoping for the best for him post career and after watching that video it made me more of a fan. Austin absolutely deserves his flowers and to have the opportunity walk away from such a gnarly sport. Reminds me of a Helper or Reynard, elite speed at times but robbed of reaching full potential due to injuries. Enjoy retirement Austin, you are a bad dude.
