Have you guys been noticing the trend lately where if hunter gets a good start and gets out front, jett will try to make a go at him, but if hunters riding good he just lets him go and takes second. It looks like hes doing this to save energy for the second moto, because if you get a 2-1 it beats a 1-2. Hes done this in the past too one of the only times jett got beat by sexton was first moto at southwick then jett won the second moto and still got the overall.
Since hes not in top form right now because of his foot, it seems like hes trying to save energy in the first moto and get overalls by getting 2-1’s instead of killing himself going all out for a 1-1 which gives the same result. This is pretty smart race craft in my opinion because he cant ride much during the week so he has to be strategic on the weekend how he tries to win overalls. What do you guys think, me and my dad both noticed the same thing this weekend it seems to be a trend.
Could be, its certainly would make sense. Moto 2 they both rode like their hair was on fire the first few laps we got to see. Looked incredible.
Jett rode like a mad man in moto 2, him and Hunter were absolutely flying. Moto 1 he just didn't seem comfortable and was sitting down more in the first few laps.
Yea it seems like hell try to win the first moto if he can get a holeshot and hold a gap, but if he gets passed by hunter or hunter gets the holeshot and is flying he seems like he has no prob just settling in for second and saving his energy for the second moto. At southwick when hunter crashed out front jett was pushing him hard as hell because he needed the win 2nd moto to get the overall. Youre not seeing jet ride that hard in the first motos. Def seems like hes saving energy for the 2nd moto since its the more important moto.
Chase won the second moto at Southwick 2024. He got 3rd in the first moto which kept him from winning the overall.

I've had the same thought. Moto 2 at Millvile, Jett was ripping. (So was Hunter).
Agreed I saw it too. Seemed super obvious he was saving energy for moto 2.
It's not really the same result since points are paid per moto.
Going 2-1 (assuming Hunter goes 1-2) means that they tie in points for the weekend rather than the 6 point advantage of going 1-1.
It's not cringe lord in his head .. it's hunta fn his head up... I don't think he ever truly expected hunta to be a legit threat to him... he's having to ride way harder than he wants to actually win this summer...

Yeah but Jett is going for the overall and the win bonus. Get da money! If his injury is keeping him from being able to win both motos, better the win the 2nd moto
Your theory can be proved/disproved this coming weekend. You don't want to consistently tie on points with the guy who's up on you by 10.
It's been plenty of times Jett has stated they done changes to bike for moto 2.
I think it's more that if he isn't completely comfortable, he doesn't go bat shit crazy.
I don’t think people are giving Hunter enough credit for how good he has gotten. I think he’s giving a healthy Jett fits.
Hunter historically/statistically stronger in moto 1, Jett moto 2? Dating back to Hunter's early 450 days battling Chase.
Hunter's my guy, so seeing him finishing out the days just as strong as he starts excites me.
I think it has something to do with not riding during the week. He said in post race interviews that he has some adjusting to do as the day goes on that wouldn't be needed if he had more seat time. Therefore his 2nd moto tends to be his best.

Jett, himself, says he’s mostly been affected by not being on the bike as much due to the injury & his focus on rehab.
And, it sounds like he’s been addressing that by getting back out there…more often.
I’m stoked for him. Considering how bad the injury was AND how involved “the fix” became…well, all that considered?
He’s kicking ass & he’s damn near Back On Track.

Just watched 2nd moto from millville last nite…these 2 blokes put on Masterclass riding clinic until Jett pulled away & then crashed….For being brothers they were racing very close and pulling away….pretty dam impressive…crazy how 2 brothers are dominating like this…
