He was going flat out while they were cruising to maintain a huge gap. Deegs was fun to watch, but he is objectively several seconds a lap slower, all other things being equal. The Lawrence bros are the fastest guys on earth right now (although I believe Lucas C. will be closer than anyone else next year). 3rd place to those guys is something to be proud of, but the narrative that anyone is consistently closer to them (barring silly crashes) is simply false.

James and Weege kept saying how “DEEGS IS RIDING THE PACE OF THE LEADERS” as he was making his way thru the pack. Now I get he was slicing the pack apart going from 31st to 4th. However, after lap 2, Deegan was 27 seconds down. At the finish, Deegan was 56 seconds down. Great comeback, 100%, however, “riding the leaders pace”? Absolutely not, the Lawrence boys were 2-3 seconds a lap better then him the whole race. 2nd moto, if Jett didn’t wad it up, he would have been 25-30 seconds ahead of Deegan on a clean start. Have you guys been noticing the trend lately where if hunter gets a good start and gets out front, jett will try to make a go at him, but if hunters riding good he just lets him go and takes second. It looks like hes doing this to save energy for the second moto, because if you get a 2-1 it beats a 1-2. Hes done this in the past too one of the only times jett got beat by sexton was first moto at southwick then jett won the second moto and still got the overall. Since hes not...

Not surprised he hasn't won a moto, I'm surprised he hasn't led even a lap. Not even one lap, cmon. There's always a time the rookie will get a start and lead for like 15- 20min, before finally getting passed cause he's all pumped up. He's got the misfortune of going up against a couple of complete breasts in the Lawrence's

Yes, he was ragged and wicked fast after passing Hunter. Way more on the edge than I usually see. The ongoing narrative with Jett is that he is running at a pace just enough to stay ahead of whoever. But in 2nd Moto Millville he was really on it, bike kicking around, overjumping. Maybe sending a message to himself too - that he can put it to Hunter or anyone at will. Then crashes not pushing it, with a large lead, and gets trapped by the bike. WTH.

Jett is crashing because he can’t move around the bike the way he wants and is off centered in ruts. Hunta crashed because his bike stalled in a rut once, and he was pushing hard to stay on front of Jett another time. Deegs has nothing to do with it. If anything, the brothers are causing themselves to push harder and that is what’s causing the crashes. You don’t think it’s because Hunter has raised the level and can match Jett now so they both have to push harder? Probably not, they are probably falling because of the kid who is consistently 20+ back
