So here is the thing, everyoine is saying it wasn't the last race  and he didn't need to do it. You win the championship at the earliest time possible because you do not know what the next race holds. Bike braks, Injury, etc. Tomac had a title and ruptured an acchiles. You simly do not know what the future holds in this sport. You win it when you can win it.

Exactly!  First turn pile up.  Didn’t  that happen  to Deegan  TWICE last  year?

What are the odds degan doesnt score 6 points next week. I'm all for banging bars and knocking guys around and over. But there are times that its uncalled for. An that wasn't necessary in any way shape or form. It was shitty and on the last lap for again no good reason period.

Says alot when I talked to someone last night and they mentioned how many guys went to see Cole afterwards.

I think the contact in that pass was mostly Haidens ego not liking the press coverage around Cole, and how people are reporting he is a better Supercross rider.

It wasn’t a rough pass, but he would have made the pass without the bump.

Yep.

And...

Had Cole done the same thing to Haiden.. Folks that are hating would've been cheering.

They were fake WWE-type boos, and only about 20 percent were booing, the rest of us were cheering the most exciting move of the entire night.

have long thought Deegan's trajectory reminds me of Barcia. Barcia was a hot commodity on 250s and won championships, but also created a LOT of drama/hate towards him. Years into his career, he's backed it down a bit but how many championships has he been a contender? Exactly. I think Deegs moves up and then gets bitch slapped into being a 4-8th place guy the rest of his career. Yeah, stamp it.

I think the hit was totally unnecessary, but far from the worst I’ve seen. He could have turned left a few feet before, and made the pass, but he wanted Cole off the track. I understand why, but I’d hate to win that way.

Davies’ interview showed class and wisdom beyond his years… Deegan’s was exactly opposite of that.

Also, I absolutely hate the way Deegan ( and I’ve seen Davies do it, too ) stick their tongue out at the end of their podium speech.  I wish someone would clip a pair of vise grips on it while it’s out. It just looks stupid.

I don’t see any comparison to Osborne/ Savatgy or especially Canard/RV. I saw that one in person. Canard was going for it and was a bit too agressive, but it didn’t look pre planned or intentional to me. Both were racing incidents.

One more thing…

Get off my lawn you little punks!

To all the non-b!tches in here, I'm on your side, bro!

To Cole D, you learned a good lesson last night early in your pro career.

I’m not biased enough to think that the move was dirty in any way. It was actually really good aggressive racing and that’s what I’ve come to expect from Haiden.

What’s unfortunate is his attitude and demeanor after the race. What he chose to focus on and what he chose to say, says everything about his character and world view. He has a manufactured chip on his shoulder and it’s just really unbecoming.

Of all the things he could’ve said in the moment he chose to be a douche.

Cmon, he seems very mature for his age. I'm sure Haiden is fine with Cole taking a lot of his shine and everyone, including industry guys, all saying Cole is the superior sx rider. You think Haiden is petty like that? 😂

Save ourselves the first four pages of replies:

DangerBaby did something entitled

He’s only young, you were 18 once

He wasn’t raised right

Moto has gone soft, he’s just passionate

He should shut up and stick to winning, earn respect

He lives rent free in your, big man, picking on a kid

Like his dad, pantomime villain for clicks

I liked him last year, and I keep trying to, but he keeps doing dumb stuff

SMX world champion

Gifted his first win

Pressured his rival into a mistake, he’s smart

If your other 7 posts were as awesome as this one...I'm sorry I missed them!

Some of you need to get off Vital and go listen to some post race interviews with Deegan. He knows he needs to reel it in on the podium, he knows he and Cole will be fine, he says he will talk to Cole about it. All words from Deegan himself

He'll say whatever he needs to say. His character is poor herego his word means nothing. Cole better not make up with him, b/c it'll just signal to DEEGS that he owns him now. Gotta give to get respect.

Curious how AC didn't address the character on display post race. He's a smart cookie and he knows that's the real issue, but he's corporate now so, mouth shut. This straw manning of the position of the majority of detractors is pretty annoying.

yeah, we need villains and it's makes the sport more interesting, but all the Monster boys tip toeing around the cringe is disappointing.

I am still surprised Deegan made up almost 4 seconds in a few laps on the best 250 sx rider ever (who will go undefeated next year)…

Attitude is everything. Deegan is a badass on a bike. But he’s a douche in person and his inability to emote in a likable way makes him repugnant when the helmet is off.

I want him to lose more than I want him to win and I suspect I will feel that way about him all the way up to his retirement.

Then we’re going to have to put up with his douchery in four-wheeled sports.

100% agree.  I love watching him ride a dirtbike. I cringe at the sight of his face for fear what is going to come out of it. I've felt the same about Dad since the beginning.  And even worse now. Brian is so desperate to be in the spotlight,  he's basically in every frame involving Star. I dont get it, never will. I'm no phycologist,  but wtf? Do these people have any real friends? I doubt it.

IMO the reaction to Deegan's move is less about the pass itself and more about a failure to "read the room." You can't take what people say at face value.

When Sexton, Coop, Stewart, McGrath, whoever roughs someone up at the bitter end (not saying they all did, just naming example riders), it might cause a stir, but because fans still love them, it's viewed as "he did what he had to do". The fans know the baseline of their character and can rationalize it. The riders are likable in their own ways, and someone who is likable gets away with a lot more.

The problem with Deegan is, to an average person, he is unlikable. He goes out of his way to antagonize others but shows mental weakness (e.g., storming into the Kawi tent and leaving with his tail between his legs) the second things don't go his way. He's also just grating to listen to - he speaks like a TikTok comment, which he mostly uses to describe how good he is ("they just mad that I'm 'Him'"...lol, really?), his "strategy" to "mess with" people or how much money he has. It's obnoxious and cringey.

When you're already unlikable and do something negative, the world jumps on you ten times harder. In this case, the Jack Doherty of SMX cleaned out a phenomenal rookie rider that the audience seems to love. Whether or not it's "fair", the reaction is extremely predictable.

Not that I agree/like it but he was and still is raised on social media, literally. He's that generation. That's his realm. That's his role now. Be as divisive as possible because fans or haters, they're all views, comments, revenue as far as the Brian is concerned

LOL!  How long have you been  watching SX?  That wasn't  a punt.

Did Deegan even make contact  with Davies?

Exactly, I call it a little tap from Deegs which caught Cole unawares... Cole got a fright and sent himself over the berm.

I like both of them. Deegan could have handled the podium a little better. He made a tool of himself but fuck it, Deegan is a dog. He went after the win and got it.

As a South African, we tend to support our fellow Aussies and Kiwis as we got a long history of beating each other up over the Rugga.

Cole as we know is 17. He learnt a valuable lesson yesterday and one day he will thank Deegan for teaching him at such a young age.

Cole is on a legendary trajectory and can look forward to a great future 450 career.

Never realised the connection but yes, Hayden Deegan is indeed Jack Doherty - and he isn’t going well now.

I seen worse moves racing for a plastic trophy in the vet class. Not a bad racing move, but not a great interview after.

It seemed like the older women in the stands were legit outrageoused and people were joking around and talking shit to folks wearing Deegan shirts but I didn't see anyone actually get punched.

I don't think the pass itself was bad. Davies left it wide open. The end result is undeniable. He won the championship with the pass.

But the circumstances make it questionable? It was his teammate who he dumped and it wasn't the last race of the series with a MUST PASS THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS situation? With the speed advantage he had he mightve easily made a clean pass in the next 3laps anyway? If he came 2nd he still would've went into the last race with a giant pts lead and would've wrapped it up as long as he didn't crash out of the main with Davies winning it or something? What I'm saying is it wasn't 100% necessary which is probably why the opinions are so divided?

In a way, I admire Deegans ruthlessness? He's obviously fine with burning bridges as long as HE wins? It'll be interesting to see if that desire, drive and ruthlessness works in the 450s?

Do you always end your sentences this way?
