Rode my MX bike yesterday, just got off my Peleton bike from a 20 minute low-impact ride to loosen up the muscles. As I have gotten older, I find the Peleton or riding my regular bicycle really helps my worn out knees. Losing more weight would help them more and that’s the next project.
He's referencing many of Professional125's posts.
I go hiking in the hills. Record it on a smart watch. Try and do better the next time a few days later when I'm chomping at the bit to hike again.
It's good for the soul man.and Easy to do
Haha, I didnt get it either. Once you said 125 I remembered all the speech to text insight he has to offer

If you want to be good at moto, you have to learn to love to suffer.
Both the rower and the ski erg are good at inflicting pain.🤷
Opened this thread thinking buddy got a CR500 🤣🤣🤣 good luck on the rower, those things are gnarly!!
If you’re new to rowing, ease into it. Don’t do anything crazy right off the bat. Don’t try a full or half marathon for a while. Don’t try to set any speed records yet either. Learn proper technique. You can pull all kinds of back muscles on that thing by being reckless. Been there, done that and got the chiropractor receipts to prove it. Find some instructional videos on YouTube. Practice technique until it becomes a habit, then worry about times, if that’s what you chase. I’m too old and short to worry about setting any records. Settled into doing 1 million plus meters/year about 4-5 years ago, so now it’s about consistency for me. I’m 63 and plan to see how many years I’m able to keep the streak going now. I try to do 10k’s 2-3 times a week. I dread coming back from vacations and getting caught back up. lol.
I have mixed feelings at the sight of my rowing machine, but most are positive. The only negative is that for zone 2 cardio, it sure seems like I have to work harder than running.
I was actually just wondering about the benefits/risks of handlebars on the rowing machine. I am getting back on mine after a long 4+ months away from all exercising. After all this time doing very little and knowing I fell out of shape, I'm excited to be mobile again and improving health (shattered tib/fib, both wrists & fingers).
It’s called lateral epicondylitis. The reason that happened is because the rower uncovered weakness in those tendon insertions. Treat the inflammation and row accordingly at a much more gradual rate.
Not to brag, but I got so addicted to this thing I eventually broke into the top 10 for the 40+ 60 second and 1000 meter Concept2 records. The rower is ALL about technique.
The absolute best workouts on the rower are the pyramid intervals. The only thing worse and more painful, and arguably better for your cardio, is the echo bike. There's nothing I hate more than the echo bike.
Get after it!
That's where 4x4 or 6x6 intervals comes into play. Doesn't feel like 35-55min (with 10min warmup).
Listen to a David goggins speech and play it on repeat, that gets me every time I’m feeling off
Best name I ever heard for an ERG, was a friend who called it, "The Rowboat to Nowhere"😂
Enjoy it, and focus on proper technique!👍
I have a love/hate relationship with my Concept 2 rower, but definitely glad I have it!!
Looking forward to purchasing their new "Concept2 Strength ERG" that's coming out in early 2025!! Will be a nice addition to the workout program, and pretty compact.
The best workout you can do is the one you enjoy/will keep doing
I’ve recently got into lifting and I’m really enjoying it. It’s all new to me as in the past I always did more high resistance cardio types of workouts
15 mins 3X per week
I do not understand the handlebar thing. Is it just a uniform thing like flannels on street bikes?
Pit Row
I took the MX handlebars off mine….I have had a rower for 10-12 years, the correct form is important, have to slow down to learn to protect your lower back.. I have low back issues from riding whoop out sand tracks all my life… So I don’t use the rower as much as I would like to.
Go find a park. Play ground etc. Set up a circuit doing sprints. Push-ups. Pull ups. Crunches.
Start slow and work up.
Look up Stuart McGill spine guru. Read his stuff.
Do his movements. It helped my back exponentially.
Hey Thanks… Didn’t know who McGill was but I have been doing bis big 3 stretches for 10 years….must be a standard Pt protocol when people come in with aching lower backs….and it does work….
It was worth the cost for me (clean/used craigslist find).
They sell all the small parts to keep them in good working order.

I use mine a lot during the fall / winter when it's cold, dark and raining here in the northwest.
Someone talked me into signing up for a 24 hour rowing challenge at her gym this winter.
Ten minute sprints every hour for 24 hours might make the thread title real.
We’re doing the dopey challenge marathon in January and once I get through that I’m gonna work on short distance events and rowing. I pity and envy your challenge at the same time😂
I just looked up the Dopey challenge... That's a lot of running!
Step one, get off the Internet and social media.
Once of the greatest sci-fi lines/ scenes of all time....
This is just the one line...but the dialogue leading up to this scene was incredible.
My wife found that my rowing machine was a very good laundry drying rack.
