Insane how many people are writing off Prado because his bike blew up. I know most people on this board have lead poisoning but even then you'd think they'd be able to understand that a finish that's the result of a mechanical dnf is not indicative of a rider's ability.

I wouldn’t want him if I were his employer now. I also wouldn’t want to cut him loose to go to another team. I’d want to have him sit out without pay for a while to reconsider his choices. He has no right to treat his team like that no matter how upset he is. I think he needs psychological...

You said: “Fearlessness and willingness while staring in the face of a much greater power and believing that you can still be victorious in spite of every conceivable metric being stacked against you—that is bravery.” If someone offers a definition, you can test it to see if it is too broad (includes things that shouldn’t meet the definition) by citing...

I’m indulging my own interests in my essays. I apologize if I’m overdoing it, which I tend towards. What you said is excellent and more to the point.

Colloquially, bravery and courage tend to be used interchangeably. You list fearlessness and belief that you can prevail despite having reason to believe you can’t as defining bravery. You offered a definition and I used a counter example to show that it is deficient. A drunk idiot that picks a fight with a bigger man has met that definition. This...

I think that bravery is, as you say, connected to fearlessness. But there’s nothing especially praiseworthy about that. Bravery can, in that sense, be the product overconfidence just as easily as justifiable confidence. People get braver - and stupider - when they are drunk. Courage, on the other hand, is a virtue. The courageous person acts despite being afraid. Aristotle...

Talent and bravery can be both present in the same person. Given what we know about Jett’s injury, he’s got to be riding with considerable pain. I’m not saying anything to question what Deegan’s balls are made of, but what exactly is he doing or has he done that exceeds the level of bravery currently displayed by Jett?

Honestly I thought the track prep yesterday benefited Prado because it resembled the way MXGP does things. It wasn’t ripped as deep and didn’t get as rutty as it has in the past and the track was really fast.

I think his riding is excellent, both in terms of speed and respectfulness. To put in perspective just how well he’s riding, after the second moto restart, when he was in 10th place, my son chuckled and said “he won’t be in that position very long”. I read the list of names between him and the Lawrence’s and asked: Who...

I think it’s correct that he doesn’t give a shit what any of us think about him, but he cares a great deal about whether or not we think about him. The opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s indifference.

Impressed with Jett. Impressed with Deegan showing a bit of humility. Hunter hung tough. Must be difficult for everyone seeing Jett limp around and already winning. I hope these three can battle all season.

That’s probably true and it’s also understandable. But I kept repeatedly reading comments coming into this season that unlike others who roll over and accept defeat, Deegan would fight back and never give up. That’s a dig at the fans saying that stuff, not Deegan himself, who was gracious and generous in his post race comments. He rode an excellent...

The speed with which Hunter gapped Deegan was stunning. I didn’t expect that. JS7 is right, those Honda boys are good. That being said, nobody else seemed to have anything for Deegan. Maybe Prado. Whatever happened to his bike, it robbed us of a potentially exciting finish because he was flying and catching Deegan.

It’s undoubtedly an important part and I understand the dealer not wanting to let the guy loose with the bike with potentially faulty handlebar clamps. But this dealer’s approach is almost unbelievably stringent. Holding the bike hostage can’t be the best option. My take on how this should go: The dealer needs to make it clear to the customer that...

I will never understand how a group of people that buy $80k trucks, $70k trailers, $10k bikes, $5k worth of aftermarke parts, $800 helmets and $30/ gallon race fuel somehow draw the line at $40 rider and $10 spectator fees. Out of the entire moto economy, the track owners have the slimmest profit margins while putting in the most passion and love for the sport and the local moto community.

What Weege says about a shoot vs a work is pretty insightful. The thing is though, if a lot of what he’s doing is a work the work allows for losses that are part of the work but real shoot situations aren’t so forgiving, and the races are real. Wrestlers who lose a real fight in public have ruined their...

Well said. I've had a woman hit me before (don't stick your dick in the crazy ones, fellas. Swiss chick, really fun until it was really not fun). I didn't retaliate, I just prevented her from hitting me, which is very easy, they're about as strong as your average 12 year old boy, then left when the crazy didn't stop. It's a weak man who feels the need to hit a woman.
